The following is a list of Christian hardcore bands, organized alphabetically.
Christian hardcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk primarily distinguished by its lyrical focus on Christian themes and values, although former Burden of a Day guitarist Bryan Honhart has suggested that the genre also possesses sonic distinctions. [1] Bands such as The Crucified, Focused, Focal Point, Zao and No Innocent Victim are considered progenitors of the movement. [2] In recent years, Demon Hunter [3] and The Chariot [4] have gained considerable popularity among fans of the genre, while metalcore bands such as Underoath, As I Lay Dying, and Norma Jean have served as mainstream representatives of the genre.
This list consists of Christian bands that play hardcore punk or any hardcore punk subgenres.
Reborn is the fourth album by the Christian metal band Living Sacrifice. The album was released in 1997, and later re-released and remastered in 2004. In 2020, the band announce a vinyl re-release of Reborn, which sold out quickly.
Return to Life is the fifth studio album by American Christian metal band War of Ages. Facedown Records released the album on April 24, 2012.
Fight the Silence is the fifth studio album by American Christian metalcore band For Today. The album was released on February 4, 2014 through Razor & Tie.
The Overseer is a Christian metal band from Bentonville, Arkansas started in 2007. They released an independent EP in 2010 entitled The Overseer, and two successive studio albums with their label Solid State Records entitled We Search, We Dig (2012) and Rest and Let Go (2014).
Creation/Destruction is the second studio album by American metalcore band Fit for a King. It was released on March 12, 2013, through Solid State Records and was produced by Andreas Magnusson. The album attracted both commercial successes and positive criticism.
Those Who Fear, also known as TWF, was an American Christian metal band hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who were established in 2005. The groups' current label imprint is Facedown Records. In 2013, the band came out with a studio album called Unholy Anger. Their second studio album was issued in 2014, titled Death Sentence. Their third and Final album, State of Mind, was released in 2016.
Supreme Chaos is the sixth studio album by American Christian metal band War of Ages, released through Facedown Records July 22, 2014. War of Ages worked with Joshua Barber on the production of the album.
Calloused is the third album by American metalcore band Gideon. Facedown Records released the project on October 14, 2014. Gideon worked with Will Putney on the production of this album.
Sleeping Giant was an American Christian metal band from Redlands, California and Salt Lake City, Utah. All the members of the band, minus drummer Matt Weir, played in the band xDEATHSTARx.
Backdraft is the second studio album from Fallstar, released by Facedown Records on April 16, 2013. Fallstar worked with Kris Crummett in the production of this album.
Anthems is the first extended play from Messengers. Facedown Records alongside Strike First Records released the EP on November 9, 2010. Messengers worked with Daniel Schmuck, in the production of this album.
Onward to Olympas was an American metalcore band from Salisbury, North Carolina. The band started making music in 2005, and disbanded in 2013. Their membership was vocalists, Chris Davis and Kramer Lowe, guitarists and vocalist, Andy Simmons, Justin Gage, and Kyle Phillips, drummer and vocalist, Mark Hudson, guitarist, Andrew Higginbotham, bass guitarist, Justin Allman, and drummers, Matt Burnside, Nick Helvey. The band released one independently made album, The End of the Beginning, in 2007, and their lone extended play, Victory at All Costs, in 2008. Their first studio album, This World Is Not My Home, was released by Facedown Records, in 2010. The subsequent studio album, The War within Us, was released by Facedown Records, in 2011. They released, Indicator, with Facedown Records, in 2012, and this was their third and final studio album.
Call to Preserve was an American Christian and straight edge crossover thrash band who played a fusion hardcore punk and metalcore. They come from Rockledge, Florida. The band started making music in 2003, and disbanded in 2011. Their membership was vocalist, John Ellis, guitarists, Duke Ahrens, Matt Aviles, and Harbor Partin, bass guitarist, Kyle Bowen, and drummer, Mike Aviles. The band released one independently made extended play, Call to Preserve, in 2003. Their first studio album, Unsinkable, was released by Strike First Records, in 2006. The subsequent studio album, From Isolation, was released by Facedown Records, in 2008. They released, Life of Defiance, with Facedown Records, in 2010, and this was final studio album. Their last release, an extended play, Validation, was released by Facedown Records, in 2011, marking this as their final musical recording.
Day of Vengeance is an American Christian hardcore and metalcore band from Bradenton, Florida. The band started making music in 2009. Their membership is Josiah Hughes, Steven Spahn, and Richard Tosch. The band released an extended play, Day of Vengeance, in 2011, with Red Cord Records. They released three studio albums, He Who Has Ears, in 2010, Star Breather, in 2012, and, Crutchless, in 2013, all these were with Red Cord Records. They also released an EP in 2021 called Farewell.
Milestone is the second studio album by American metalcore band Gideon. Facedown Records released the album on July 3, 2012. Gideon worked with Brian Hood in the production of this album.
Inked in Blood was an American Christian metalcore and melodic hardcore group. They come from Portland, Oregon. The band started making music in 2001 and disbanded in 2007. Their first show was December 2001 in Portland with Knives Out. The band released two demos, one extended play, Awakening Vesuvius, in 2004. Their first studio album, Lay Waste the Poets, was released by Facedown Records, in 2005. The subsequent studio album, Sometimes We Are Beautiful, was released by Facedown Records, in 2007, as their final recording.
We the Gathered is an American Christian hardcore, classified as a melodic hardcore and a melodic metalcore group, from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The band started making music in 2010, and their members at the time are Lance, Randy, Kyle, Josh, and Spencer. They released, an extended play, We the Gathered, in 2010. Their first studio album, Believer, was released by Strike First Records, in 2011. The subsequent album, Daydreamers, was an independent release, in 2013.
Jesus Wept is an American Christian rock band who primarily play hardcore punk, metalcore, post-hardcore, and post-metal. They come from Erie, Pennsylvania. The band started making music in 2004, and their members are Dan Quiggle, Dave Quiggle, Sean Sundy, Jon Beckman, and Adam Salaga. Their first extended play, Sick City, was released by Strike First Records in 2006. The band released a studio album, Show's Over, in 2006, with Strike First Records.
Creations were an Australian Christian hardcore and Christian metal band who primarily played Beatdown Hardcore with Metalcore influences. They come from Sydney, NSW, Australia. The band started making music in 2009. Their first two studio albums, The Gospel and Unworthy/Humility, were released by Mediaskare Records alongside Rite of Passage Music, correspondingly in 2011 and 2013. The band announce they were disbanding in 2016.
