The Colorado State Senate is the upper house of the Colorado General Assembly,the state legislature of the US state of Colorado. It is composed of 35 members elected from single-member districts,with each district having a population of about 123,000 as of the 2000 census. Senators are elected to four-year terms,and are limited to two consecutive terms in office. Senators who are term-limited become eligible to run again after a one-term respite.

David L. Young is an American politician and the current Treasurer of Colorado. He served as a Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives,representing District 50 from the time of his appointment on July 28,2011 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Jim Riesberg until his term ended and he took office as State Treasurer in early 2019. He won a second term as state treasurer in 2022.

Alec Garnett is an American politician and a former Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives and the former Speaker of the House. He represented District 2,which covered a portion of the city of Denver. He was first elected in 2014 to replace retiring House Speaker Mark Ferrandino. In November 2020,Garnett's colleagues elected him to serve as speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives for the two-year term beginning in January 2021. Prior to reapportionment implemented in 2023,he represented the 23rd district,which covered a portion of Jefferson County. He was first elected to the state house in 2016,succeeding Max Tyler.

Prior to her tenure on the county commission,she was a Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives. She represented District 46,which covered a portion of Pueblo County. She was first elected to her statehouse seat in 2014,succeeding Leroy Garcia. Term limited,she left office in January 2023.
