Prior to being elected to the state assembly, he was a school board trustee for the Walnut Valley Unified School District.

This bill allows farmworkers in California to qualify for overtime pay after working 8 hours in a single day or 40 hours in a workweek. Prior to the passage of AB 1066, farmworkers were only eligible for overtime pay after working 10 hours.
