84 Ceti is the Flamsteed designation for a binary star system [4] in the equatorial constellation of Cetus. It has an apparent visual magnitude of 5.7, [2] making it faintly visible to the naked eye from dark suburban skies. Parallax measurements with the Hipparcos spacecraft put this system at a distance of around 74 light years. [1]
The primary, 84 Ceti A, is an F-type main sequence star with a stellar classification of F7V. It is slightly larger than the Sun, with 117% of the Sun's mass, 121% of the radius, and 213% of the luminosity. [3] The abundance of elements more massive than helium is 71% of the Sun's and it has a relatively high projected rotational velocity of 32 km/s. [6] This star is estimated to be less than half the age of the Sun, at 2.1 billion years. [3]
The secondary component, 84 Ceti B, has a classification of K2V, [4] making it a K-type main sequence star. It lies at an angular separation of 3.3″ from the primary, which is equivalent to a physical separation of at least 74.5 AU. [4]
The space velocity components of this system are: –13(U), –25(V), –2(W) km/s. [8] Based upon the position and motion, it is a candidate member of the Tucana-Horologium Association; this is a group of stars that share a similar motion through space and hence may have originated in the same molecular cloud. [9] 84 Ceti is following an orbit through the Milky Way galaxy that has an eccentricity of 0.03, taking it as close as 22.3 kly (6.83 kpc) and as far as 26.2 kly (8.02 kpc) from the Galactic Center. The inclination of the orbital plane carries it as far as 260 ly (80 pc) away from the galactic plane. [8]
94 Ceti is a trinary star system approximately 73 light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
Sigma Centauri, Latinized from σ Centauri, is the Bayer designation for a solitary star in the southern constellation of Centaurus. It is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 3.91. A visual companion at an angular separation of 88.11±0.37 mas along a position angle of 14.33°±2.59° was detected in 2010 using interferometry, but its association with Sigma Centauri remains undetermined as of 2013. The distance to Sigma Centauri, based upon an annual parallax shift of 7.92 mas, is around 412 light years.
3 Centauri is a triple star system in the southern constellation of Centaurus, located approximately 300 light years from the Sun. It is visible to the naked eye as a faint, blue-white hued star with a combined apparent visual magnitude of 4.32. As of 2017, the two visible components had an angular separation of 7.851″ along a position angle of 106°. The system has the Bayer designation k Centauri; 3 Centauri is the Flamsteed designation. It is a suspected eclipsing binary with a variable star designation V983 Centauri.
Lambda Geminorum, Latinized from λ Geminorum, is a candidate multiple star system in the constellation Gemini. It is visible to the naked eye at night with a combined apparent visual magnitude of 3.57. The distance to this system is 101 light years based on parallax, and it is drifting closer with a radial velocity of –7.4 km/s. It is a member of what is suspected to be a trailing tidal tail of the Hyades Stream.
54 Ceti is an older Flamsteed designation for a star that is now located within the constellation boundaries of Aries, the Ram. In the present day it is known by star catalogue identifiers like HD 11257 or HR 534. At an apparent visual magnitude of 5.94, it can be seen with the naked eye. The distance to this star, as determined using parallax measurements made during the Hipparcos mission, is approximately 139 light-years, give or take a 6 light-year margin of error. It is located near the ecliptic and hence is subject to occasional occultation by the Moon.
Chi Ceti , is the Bayer designation for a double star in the equatorial constellation of Cetus. They appear to be common proper motion companions, sharing a similar motion through space. The brighter component, HD 11171, is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.66, while the fainter companion, HD 11131, is magnitude 6.75. Both lie at roughly the same distance, with the brighter component lying at an estimated distance of 75.6 light years from the Sun based upon an annual parallax shift of 43.13 mass.

Epsilon Pavonis, Latinized from ε Pavonis, is a single, white-hued star in the constellation Pavo. It can be viewed with the naked eye, having an apparent visual magnitude of 3.97. The annual parallax shift of 31.04 mas provides a distance estimate of 105 light years from the Sun. This star is a member of the proposed Argus Association, a young moving group of more than 60 stars associated with the IC 2391 cluster. Epsilon Pavonis is moving closer to the Sun with a radial velocity of −6.7 km/s.
34 Persei is a binary star system in the northern constellation of Perseus.
