Kingstaun (engl. Kingstown) je glavni grad ostrvske države Sveti Vinsent i Grenadini.[4] Prema popisu iz 2012. ima 12.909 stanovnika.[3] Središte je ostrvske poljoprivrede i turizma.
Geografija

Istorija

Modernu prestonicu, Kingstaun, osnovali su francuski doseljenici ubrzo posle 1722. godine, iako je Sent Vinsent imao 196 godina britanske vladavine pre nezavisnosti.[6]
Botanička bašta, osmišljena 1765. godine, jedna je od najstarijih na zapadnoj hemisferi. Vilijam Blaj, koji je postao poznat iz Pobune na Bauntu, doneo je ovde seme hlebnog drveta radi sadnje, oko 1793.[7]

Saobraćaj
[uredi | uredi izvor]Grad opslužuje međunarodni aerodrom Argajl, koji ima komercijalne putničke usluge do Sjedinjenih Država, Kanade i, uskoro, do Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva.
Znamenitosti
[uredi | uredi izvor]- Botanička bašta St. Vinsent: Botanička bašta se nalazi na severnoj periferiji Kingstauna. Kingstaun se može videti sa Fort Šarlote na severnoj strani grada.[8][9] Tvrđava se nalazi na 190 m (620 ft) nadmorske visine.[10]
