The State Board of Education is the governing board of the public school system of the state of Oklahoma. The Board is composed of six members and the Superintendent of Education. The six members are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Oklahoma Senate. Members serve four year terms.
The duties of a board member include working with other board members to craft policies, approve a budget, and hire/supervise the superintendent who serves as CEO. They help set the vision for the school district with student support and success at the center of every decision.
