King Records, Part 10: Federal Records, Part 2: 1954-56 this week on the Juke In the Back!

The "Juke In The Back" focuses on the " soul that came before rock n' roll," the records that inspired Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and countless others.
This week, it's part 10 of a 10 part series on the great King Record Label, out of Cincinnati.
Syd Nathan, who began putting out records under the King logo in 1943, developed King as a hillbilly music label. After seeing the sales potential in the Rhythm & Blues market, Nathan launched the Queen Records subsidiary in 1945, but folded it into King in 1947 and transferred his R&B acts over.

It's a Musical Stew, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! Sara Hillis here! I have to call this week's episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic Music show on Mushroom FM, a musical stew so the management doesn't fire me for using inappropriate language (soup,) but I actually think it fits. The show is positively thik with chunks of music that has been cooked to perfection so the flavours meld together in a satisfying auditory melange. Of course, as is traditional in my family, stew must be served with tea biskets, and I've got them--lovely buttery bits of banter for your dilectation! So, pop over!

More songs about angels this week on The Early Years!

After you've enjoyed Decades in HD with PJ Noce tomorrow afternoon from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM, don't touch that dial, device, PC, Mac, smart speaker or tablet and join me for The Early Years, where and when you'll hear the best music from the first quarter century of Rock with occasional nods to other decades and genres.
It's a perfectly angelic show this week as I play more songs about angels suggested by you the listeners and songs I've thought of, primarily from 1961 to 1971 with version comparisons as recent as 1978.
