Presenting an Encore Presentation, this Week on come by the Hills!

I'm off on a mini vacation this weekend, so this means that I will not be doing a new episode of Come by the Hills, the Folk and Celtic music show on Mushroom FM. However, if you tune in on Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern, or for the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern, you'll hear an episode originally broadcast on September 30, 2023. This was when the show was on Saturdays rather than on Sundays, so keep that in mind when you hear me talking about what's coming up next and such. I hope you'll enjoy this blast from the past, and I'll be back with you again live next weekend.

It's a Folkin' Good Time, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! Once again I'm here as the herald of all things folkish on Mushroom FM, so hark! will you? Come by the Hills is coming up in a few short hours, and this week, I have what promises to be an eclectic show, in which we celebrate the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins of Lord of the Rings fame with a set of Tolkien's poems that was crafted into a song-cycle by none other than Donald Swan of Flanders and Swan fame! Is this truly Folk music? Well, I suppose not, but it is a lovely thing, and I'm going to play it.

It's a Somewhat Reflective Ride, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! As some long-time listeners may no, September is a somewhat melancholy month for me, as it's when I lost, seven years ago on September 16th, my very best friend from when I was a child very suddenly due to as-yet unknown natural causes. Her name is Shannon, and I'm going to play some of her favourite songs this week, as well as a lovely bit of archival audio so her voice will live on. I've also got some really thought-provoking songs, and a song from me which I was inspired to write by another person who passed, also on September 16th, four years ago.

It's Fabulous Folkish Fun, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Hello! Sara Hillis here again to state the obvious, really. This week's episode of Come by the Hills will be three hours of Folkish fabulousness, along with plenty of fun and frolic! I've got sad songs, happy songs, love songs, and even a bonnie bunch of songs, or perhaps a bunch of "Bonnie" songs would be nearer the mark, and then there are the songs that you pick! So, what's not to like?

It's a Labour of Love, this Week on Come by the Hills!

Greetings and salutations! I'm just popping onto your screen to let you know about this week's live edition of Come by the Hills! In honour of the North American version of Labour Day, which is always the first Monday in September, I'll have songs featuring various occupations: miners, fishermen, weavers, truck-drivers, chimney-sweeps, ploughmen, farmers and anything else I (or you, for that matter) can think of. We'll also be hearing an audiodrama that a listener told me about featuring the heroine of one of the songs we played last week.

It's a Belated Eighth Anniversary Celebration, this Week on Come by the Hills!

On august 21, 2016, a little show called Come by the Hills made its debut on Mushroom FM! It was primarily a Celtic music show, but as time went on, other Folk elements began to creep in. It's still got a major Celtic foundation, but I'd like to think it's done some evolving over the years. Tonight's the night to celebrate eight years of this crazy little show, and I hope you'll join me for three hours of Folkish fun!

Revisiting our Stan Rogers Special, this Week on Come by the Hills!

It's Stuff and Nonsense--well, Stuff anyway--, this Week on Come by the Hills

It's almost time for another three-hour Folkish feast on Come by the Hills! I've got songs about foxes and a tyger (yes it's spelled correctly,) a salute to John Barleycorn and other barley-related matters, and even some songs about love, including one of my absolute favourites by Nanci Griffith. Come along and hang out if you're of a mind!

Catch Come by the Hills live from the 7th floor on Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern, or check out the replay on Tuesday at 5:00 AM Eastern. However and whenever you listen, I hope you'll enjoy it!

Waltzes, Willows and Other Wonders, this Week on Come by the Hills!

It will soon be time for another fun and Folky episode of Come by the Hills, once again brought to you live from the 7th floor! This week, I've got some waltzes, including one about toilets, (yes, toilets!), some songs about willows, a song featureing a girl with April in her eyes, a sunset hymn and much much more! The best part is that it's live, which means that, depending on my whimsical whims or the whims of you, the listener, things could change at a moment's notice! So, sit back and enjoy the ride!
