The TeamLiquid StarLeague 4, announced on April 25, 2012, will be the second TSL event held for StarCraft II. It will feature three returning seeds, the three players who achieved podium in the previous edition: ThorZaIN, NaNiwa, and Kas. The twenty-nine remaining spots will be awarded through qualifiers. The event will have a live finals and after party in New York City, as well as full news and coverage on TL.net.[1]
History[edit]
TL.net, the biggest foreign website/community dedicated to StarCraft, has grown steadily since its founding in 2002. With its increase in both members and staff as well as prestige and acclaim, the site organised numerous events, such as small tournaments and exhibition matches over the years.
In 2008, the biggest foreign StarCraft: Brood War tournament thus far was held: the Razer TeamLiquid StarLeague, which was won by IefNaij. One year later, an even bigger sequel saw the light of day: the Pokerstrategy.com TeamLiquid Starleague. It was won by NonY. Mondragon and Sen came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
With the release of StarCraft II, TeamLiquid's events centered around this second iteration. After a number of Team Liquid SC2 Opens, the site finally launched the Team Liquid StarLeague 3 on the first day of 2011. This event turned out to be one of the most highlighted foreign events of 2011, and was concluded by ThorZaIN's victory against NaNiwa in a tight finals which took place in the Team Liquid HQ in NYC.
Almost a year after this final, Team Liquid announces the TSL4.
Team Liquid StarLeague 4[edit]
The fourth edition of the starleague was announced on April 25, 2012, through a teaser and a short text that announced Razer and TwitchTV as the main sponsors. The event will feature three returning seeds from TSL3: ThorZaIN, NaNiwa, and Kas. The other twenty-nine players will come from open qualifier TL Open tournaments: eighteen from North America and Europe, and eleven from Korea and Asia.

Casters[edit]
- Sean "Day[9]" Plott is a man who anyone who follows StarCraft, even a little bit, should recognize. His days in StarCraft go back many years both as a player and Team Liquid contributor. Sean is known for his extremely positive attitude and upbeat personality with a unique sense of humor. He is also known for being the host of his own show, the Day[9] Daily as well as being the organizer for the After Hours Gaming League. He has cast nearly every major event outside Korea.
- Mike “Husky” Lamond has been casting since the days when being an English commentator meant taking Brood War videos and talking over the top of them. Since his foray into StarCraft II, early in the beta, he has developed one of the most popular channels on all of YouTube. Husky and brings a passion and enthusiasm into a cast that few can match, turning any game into a fun, lighthearted, affair that anyone can enjoy.
- Marcus “DjWheat” Graham is truly a veteran of the scene, having began his casting career commentating Quake over a decade ago. He has become a pillar of the StarCraft II community, regularly commentating on games for MLG as well as hosting the popular shows Kings of Tin, Inside the Game, and Live on Three. Marcus also works for Twitch.tv as their ESPORTS manager. In the past, he helped to bring an air of professionalism and experience to the TSL3 experience and will do it again in TSL4.
- Blake “Chill” Muzar has been a staple of TL-run events since the early days of TL Attack! and Liquibition, in addition to TSL. From casting the very first event to achieving his own catchphrase during the last game of TSL3 he has been here rain or shine. He casts games with an honesty that approaches bluntness, mixing in dry Canadian humor at a pace that makes each match feel fresh.
- Shaun “Apollo” Clark is the newest addition to the TSL's casting crew. A world champion in competitive Command and Conquer 3, he started playing Brood War several years ago and moved to StarCraft II during the beta. Most recently he commentated at DreamHack Stockholm and started working with the GD Studio for their Arena events and their production at ASUS ROG Summer 2012. His experience both as a player and commentator allow him to give valuable insight into a wide number of situations, making him a perfect fit for the TSL.
- Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski, the analytical half of the famous GSL Casting Archon, Tastosis, may also be making a guest appearance if his busy schedule can allow it. He has been with the TSL since its humble beginnings and we hope he'll be able to cast at least one match in every TSL we run.
