The Battle of Britain 2

[edit]

A slight challenge here on The Battle of Britain 2, in that the publisher of the game posted reviews on their website, and listed the name of the publication but not the date or other information. So what I am asking for here, is if anyone is able to locate originals of these reviews, can you just please provide the citation for me so that I can reasonably include these reviews in the article?

The reviews in question are, as posted on archive.org:

Thanks, BOZ (talk) 18:39, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BOZ: I found a fourth review on archive.org, in magazine Computer Gaming World. [4]. Will keep looking for them, though. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:02, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! That's the one good one that I already had though, but I appreciate it. :) BOZ (talk) 19:03, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to this issue, the game (also known as "Battle for Britain II") was released in Dec 91, which may give a window of time to look for its contemporary reviews. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:29, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ:. Found the lost Macworld issue: Jan 1993 KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:38, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, thanks! That's one down. :) BOZ (talk) 19:42, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ: Found the date on the Chicago newspaper: July 26, 1992. Page needs a subscription, though: [5] KHR FolkMyth (talk) 19:53, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ: I have access to a database entry with the page number/date/title/etc. Please send me a wikimail if you want it. Best, —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:47, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Cinderella Cycle and tale type ATU 314, "Goldener" - List of Tales

For The Black Colt and related articles about tale type ATU 314, "Goldener" or "The Youth Transformed to a Horse". In the indicated pages of Anne Birgitta Rooth's work, she lists some tales on pages 252-254 in regards to her "Type C + 314", that is, the stepmother introduction of ATU 314 (see "The Black Colt" and "Donotknow").

Georgios A. Megas's work on Cupid and Psyche - excerpt about tale type ATU 432, "The Prince as Bird"

[edit]
  • Megas, Georgios A. Das Märchen von Amor und Psyche in der griechischen Volksüberlieferung. Athens, Greece: Akadēmias Athēnōn, 1971. pp. 180-190.

For The Bird Lover (overview of tale type), The Blue Bird (fairy tale) (French tale by MMe. d'Aulnoy), Prince Sobur (Indian tale) and Verde Prato (Italian fairy tale) (first Italian literary attestation).

Many thanks to the one who brought me the Inhalt. At any rate, Megas's book cites the French and the Indian traditions of the tale type, and the section is very short, so I believe there isn't much of problem to peruse it.

Empire film magazine article on Goncharov meme

[edit]
  • Quinlan, Caitlin. "No. 14 The Martin Scorsese crime epic doesn't exist: How fake Mafia movie Goncharov blew up the Internet". Empire film magazine. Retrieved 2023-01-14. Then, in November, the boundaries betwen fan fiction and reality momentarily blurred, via a shared text exchange between Martin Scorsese and his daughter Francesca (published on the latter's social media), the filmmaker responded, "Yes. I made that film years ago" Scorsese was in on the joke. "At first I wasn't sure if wanted him to know, in case he got offended," Beelz says. But that anxiety quickly passed, and the thrill of Scorsese's recognition settled in. [quote from last paragraph]

For Goncharov (meme). Saw a photo of the article on Tumblr, so a) wanted to verify and more importantly, b) the photo doesn't have a page number or issue date, information I'd like for a more complete citation. Thanks, Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 21:15, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking for the article about Clara von Greyerz from the 1/2014 issue of this bulletin (see the website), for Clara von Greyerz / Claire von Greyerz / Clara Forster, daughter of Georg Forster and Therese Huber. Sorry, I don't know author or page number.

Who's Who in America

[edit]

{{resolved}}

  • Who's who in America 1960-1961. Vol. 31. Marquis Who's Who, Inc. 1960.

According to [22], Louis Crews (who I am writing an article for) was included in the 1960 edition of "who's who in america" - I think this source would be helpful in writing the article. I just need the part that discusses him.

Stock's faunal list of the Rancho La Brea

[edit]
  • Stock, C. 1992. Rancho La Brea: A record of Pleistocene life in California. 7th ed. Revised by J.M. Harris. Science Series no.37. Los Angeles: Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, 113 pp

I've been scouring google scholar for this particular edition (the 7th) of the Rancho La Brea fauna list first published by Stock and later revised by Harris. The paper is cited among others by the tar pits website, but all I can find online is one of the older editions from the 1930s.

Thanks, Armin Reindl (talk) 07:50, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Armin Reindl, you need the entire work? Always a bit tricky, both in terms of copyright law/page policy (see the note at the top of this page: "We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright"), and also effort-wise. Any chance to narrow down the request? — Pajz (talk) 20:17, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Arguably the most important thing would be the section on bats (chiropterans) as I could not track down a single outside publication making note of them at La Brea (despite being recorded from there by the book it seems). Ducks, songbirds, falcons, herons and plants would also be useful. Armin Reindl (talk) 21:38, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, there's a museum library around the corner that is supposed to have this but I just saw that it is currently closed for construction. I've emailed them to ask if there's a way to access the volume anyway. — Pajz (talk) 23:50, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Armin Reindl, I'm told no but they'll reopen "soon", "likely" in the coming weeks, and will let me know. I'll check then whether this request is still open at that point. Hopefully someone else has a faster way to access the volume. — Pajz (talk) 20:43, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
