Nomination of List of Chabad houses for deletion
[edit]The article List of Chabad houses is being discussed concerning whether it is suitable for inclusion as an article according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Chabad houses until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Drmies (talk) 03:38, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Frivolous SPI
[edit]Is there any sanction that can be applied to editors who fish for checkusers with little substantial basis? It seems that there is no real evidence of anything except common editing yet it would seem that anyone is free to come an accuse as well as join the party. If anyone sees this, please add a remark for me on the SPI. I hope it is not tempting a followup accusation of meat, yet I think it is only fair for the accused to reply. I make a dumb mistake, and everyone is piling on to join in the Shuki bashing. Thanks. --Shuki (talk) 21:44, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I would like to welcome Bulldog123 and Betsythedevine into the ranks of the I-P battleground and thank them for waking me up from a month of WP slumber. I am also as perplexed that with many of the regular I-P editors currently topic banned or interaction banned, they have suddenly shown an sudden uncharacteristic interest in this area, as well as a strong interest especially with the pro-Israel editors. Very peculiar... At least Betsy contributes to the project, maybe one day I will understand if Bulldog does anything other than attack and bring antagonism where he goes. --Shuki (talk) 16:37, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Question about Beit Yatir / Teaneck relationship
[edit]Hi. I'm currently investing a brouhaha over an alleged twinning between the town of Teaneck, NJ and the moshav Bet Yatir. As far as I can tell, the only source for the twinning is your unsourced edit at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Beit_Yatir&diff=174698486&oldid=174697857
Could you please contact me at larry at jewishmediagroup dot com and let me know what your source was for this edit? Thank you!
Yudel (talk) 20:15, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- You could click on the left side 'E-mail this user' as I rarely check here these days, enjoying a blessed WP vacation. I don't recall where I took that from. It seemed plausible. Most people on WP after a few months know that if someone has a problem with any claim, they can stick a template on to request sources and then remove it after a few weeks if nothing shows up. How is that brouhaha going? --Shuki (talk) 21:23, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, I hope you are happy
[edit][1]. Bearian (talk) 00:58, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know about this. Too bad no one bothered to email me. I would not use the word 'happy', rather 'mildly amused' that some irrational person blew this wildly out of proportion. I just replied to Yudel above what any newbie to WP would do in order to avert a crisis. But this Siegel character, may he see how he has erred and caused strife instead of peace, was apparently looking for confrontation demanding that township officials publicly renounce the connection instead of merely doing some investigative footwork to see if Teaneck was even twinned with any other municipality in the first place. I am not surprised why everyone on the city council ignored his requests. The article is actually written okay and reminds me of good old style of investigative journalism you rarely see these days.
- FWIW, I've never been to Teaneck or Beit Yatir and I cannot recall where I got that info. In my early WP days, I would copy information from other WP articles if it seemed plausible and uncontroversial. I definitely noticed that mentions of twin cities in other geo articles never had references, so I did not bother with that section there either.
- FWIW2, if this Siegel character is so interested in being anti-Zionist, than he should not be using or giving credibility to WP which is based on PHP, a programming language which has a strong root in Israel. --Shuki (talk) 22:20, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Nation with the Golan.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Nation with the Golan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. nableezy - 14:49, 2 May 2011 (UTC) 14:49, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Happy Yom Yerusalyim to all.
[edit]Jerusalem Day (Hebrew: יום ירושלים, Yom Yerushalayim) is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in June 1967. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel declared Jerusalem Day a minor religious holiday to thank God for the 6-day victory and for answering the 2,000-year-old prayer of "Next Year in Jerusalem".
I need your help
[edit]I was recently engaged in a somewhat productive talk regarding Ariel (city) with other Wikipedians. I would highly appreciate your help (and the help of everyone who wishes to help us) in better editing the article there in general, while preventing one-sided editing in particular. Can you please visit the Ariel (city) article and help me? 62.219.119.17 (talk) 13:39, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
after my last post (is that the right term, post?) here above. I had the following massege left on my page :"Please do not engage in the sort of canvassing that you have on Shuki's talk page. Also, please note that this editor is currently topic banned and may not participate in such discussions. -asad (talk) 15:03, 20 July 2011 (UTC)". i mention it here for two reasons: 1. i disagree with what ASAD is describing as 'canvassing', but clearly you have a much more important opinion in that regard (behing your page and all...) 2. they say that you are 'topic banned' and i wonder if that is true (and how come you were banned). thank you in advance for your much needed (more than ever) help.62.219.119.17 (talk) 15:30, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- I hope Shuki will not mind me answering this. He is banned, see this sanctions log. --ElComandanteChe (talk) 16:54, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- I want to thank the community for watching out for me. I don't think this is canvassing at all, but as everyone knows, (I'm touched) I cannot edit on certain articles for about another 150 days. I wonder if I'm allowed to discuss these issues on my talk page because that seems to be ex-territorial. Anyone have any insight on that? --Shuki (talk) 17:27, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I also wonder how can i send an e-mail to Shuki in particular and others in general? where can i find someone's e-mail adress?62.219.119.17 (talk) 17:33, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- If you create a username, then on the left side of most userpages there will be a link to "E-mail this user". Though, I can't guarantee that I'll answer. --Shuki (talk) 17:53, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Elazar Abuhatzeira
[edit]Why did you create the article in mainspace if you had no references? There's no contest for "creating the most useless stubs that will get deleted." I also must admit that I am very skeptical of notability of a religious scholar only being provable as soon as said scholar is dead, in spite of a 40-plus year career. In short, rather than fighting to keep it in mainspacce, why not create it in your userspace and then just move it when it meets policies? MSJapan (talk) 02:53, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- It's best not to comment on articles or people you do not know about, though I am not one, I understand the attitudes of deletionists. Anyway, as a veteran editor looking for information on which to base opinions, you definitely would have clicked on interwiki links to see if the other languages have any info. Even if you don't speak those languages, you can still get a picture of the legitimacy of a subject for an article since we AGF and assume that other wikis are also maintained to high standards. In any case, the reason why there was no article until now is because a) there was not much RS available except for a major scandal and b) I created the stub because this was a breaking story and there was nothing in English on the web about it and the context of being from a notable family dynasty. People trust WP for breaking news even if only a byte of info. This is not a stub that will get deleted and I assume a veteran editor like yourself would again AGF and check my record of edits before assuming I would create a 'useless stub'. --Shuki (talk) 04:46, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- You said exactly what I thought you would say, which was "People trust WP for breaking news even if only a byte of info." I'm sorry, but Wikipedia is not news. This is an encyclopedia, not a media outlet. MSJapan (talk) 04:17, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- You know that officially is the motto here, but in reality, WP is a form of encyclopedia, almanac, journal and repository of history. If WP was really notnews, there would not articles like 2011 Norway attacks for instance. --Shuki (talk) 08:33, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

- Please explain. This 1RR must have happened when I was gone. I reverted you once is a violation of 1RR? --Shuki (talk) 21:28, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Your first edit was labeled a partial revert, your second a wholesale revert. So you have made 2 reverts, which is more than the allowed 1. Every article in the topic area is covered by a 1RR, see WP:ARBPIA#General 1RR restriction. nableezy - 21:30, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, you are playing games with me. I understand now. I recall now how you do it, gimme a min. --Shuki (talk) 21:33, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- No, not a game. Not even a warning. Rather, a request that you self-revert your edit and a notice that if you refuse to do so I will report you for violating the 1RR. nableezy - 21:35, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, not warning - coming from you is a threat. I self-reverted my first edit, but did not re-add alleged since the additional news articles clearly say the courts convicted Peace Now of publicizing a false report. Would the 1RR also include keeping false information in the article, or is it blanket 'don't revert twice'? Please be honest here, if you have issues, I'll revert that as well for now and get second opinion. --Shuki (talk) 21:40, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

I see you chose to self-revert a different edit in order to keep a different revert. You should see here where a similar situation resulted in a lengthy ban (for me) on the basis that such an action was "gaming". nableezy - 21:38, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
Shuki, you are free to remove anything you wish from your talk page as you did here, but the comment stands. In fact, looking at the thread I linked to above I see you participated in it, so you have no excuse for thinking that you can game the restriction in such a way. Please tell me if you are not going to self-revert your edit so that I can proceed with the AE report. nableezy - 21:45, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'll keep this embarrassing comment of yours in. Thanks for reminding me about that AE. It's good to keep a record of that information and that they did stop you in your tracks with that frequent tactic for once and for all. I guess I have to read up on about a years worth of action here to understand the new boundaries. If it's keeping your behaviour intact, must be good progress. Too bad you have not learnt to AGF and give me more than a minute to edit before re-threatening me. --Shuki (talk) 21:48, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks for letting me know, I guess. I will AGF you again, though I'm sure that many think it is quite funny that I get sanctioned while others (like you) are merely dismissed at a subsequent identical. I didn't goad you to taking me to AE, merely demanded that you retract that misleading accusation (in fact frivolous) and peculiar that even though I did not break 1RR, you succeeded in getting the admins to eliminate me for subjective reasons only. Notification of arbitration enforcement filing
[edit]Shuki, as I believe your comment on my talk page violates the topic ban to which you are subject, I have filed a request at arbitration enforcement for review of the matter. I will refrain from myself imposing any administrative sanctions in the matter, since your post was directly questioning my judgment, and I do not believe it would be appropriate for me to unilaterally act in such a case. You may post a statement defending yourself, and since the AE thread directly accuses you of violating your topic ban, defending yourself will not be construed as a violation of your topic ban. Notice to administrators: In a March 2010 decision, the Committee held that "Administrators are prohibited from reversing or overturning (explicitly or in substance) any action taken by another administrator pursuant to the terms of an active arbitration remedy, and explicitly noted as being taken to enforce said remedy, except: (a) with the written authorization of the Committee, or (b) following a clear, substantial, and active consensus of uninvolved editors at a community discussion noticeboard (such as WP:AN or WP:ANI). If consensus in such discussions is hard to judge or unclear, the parties should submit a request for clarification on the proper page. Any administrator that overturns an enforcement action outside of these circumstances shall be subject to appropriate sanctions, up to and including desysopping, at the discretion of the Committee."

I suppose I should fix it myself but I'm not an experienced Wikipedia user/editor. Your edits to List of radio stations in Israel weren't done properly - you added (thank you!) Kol Chai and Kol Berama into the section for stations operated by the IBA instead of the section for commercial stations. (There may be other entries which are similarly wrong but I noticed yours).

Hi, I know that you are a good writer on Israeli topics, and would like to ask you, Shomer Masoret is my own work which i'm not satisfied with (Especially the content in context of form of translation as not being a native English speaker etc.). What's up with editing the article Shomer Masoret ? --Midrashah (talk) 18:33, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Hello, Shuki. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, David Lau, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want David Lau to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.
Thanks, Ghostboy1997 (talk) 02:09, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Topic ban (2)
[edit]You need to stop making those edits, per your topic ban. Thanks. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 20:05, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- My topic ban is pertaining to the IP articles, not political parties. --Shuki (talk) 20:09, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Your topic ban is to the Arab-Israeli conflict. If you think Neo-Zionism is not pertinent to the Arab-Israeli conflict, well that's just odd. And surely not plausible, say for example at AE. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 20:12, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- You just reverted me without reading anything.
- The parties that are categorized are described as Neo-Zionists is the article Neo-Zionist and this is sourced. For some articles it was even mentionned in the article itself.
- Neo-Zionism movement rejects the idea of a Palestinian State and consider Eretz-Israel comprises (at minimum) the totality of former Mandate Palestine. This is therefore a topic that is linked to the I-P conflict.
- If you don't self-revert, I assume that you will be blocked.
- Pluto2012 (talk) 20:20, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- You're dragging me into the specific area that I am not allowed to edit in, and that was not my intention at all. You might notice that I have respected the TBAN over the past year and have no intention of breaking it. As per the reverts, gimme some time, I will return with the permission I received from admin about this. If I am mistaken, I can make the reverts. --Shuki (talk) 20:24, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I didn't "drag" you anywhere. I even never met you. You jumped there alone.
- Anyway, there is no hurry and I don't see any issue if you discuss this with admins as long as you take care of your actions, discuss in talk pages and don't transform these articles in a WP:BATTLEGROUND for ideological reasons.
- Pluto2012 (talk) 20:35, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Reverted all the articles I had edited today. I don't have time to get into that. Eventually, will probably will issue an appeal to AE, but would like to continue the WP vacation this TBAN has afforded a bit longer. I remember now what a battleground you guys still think this is and thank you too for watching out for me. Pluto, I think I know who you were. Please be careful. --Shuki (talk) 20:41, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- I formerly edited wikipedia under the account "ceedjee".
- What are your concerns with the fact to create the category "Neo-Zionism" and to add there the political parties and movements as well as some people who adhere to this philosophy ?
- You asked for WP:RS for this but :
- most are referred as such (with sources) on the article Neo-Zionism.
- have in mind that scholars share the spectrum in 3 parts : Zionists, Post-Zionists and Neo-Zionists. Each party should be somewhere in one of these third. (There are few Anti-Zionist parties in Israel, if any).
- If you give precise concerns for one given article (one at at time), I don't mind discussing this with you.
- Pluto2012 (talk) 06:50, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

- I can't discuss that issue with you because the pro-___ warriors will chew me out like they did the rest. FWIW, in general of course, it is OR to label / cat articles about people and organizations that are not labeled with that term widely, and perhaps by one or only a few writers, if they are mentioned specifically. ANd it is OR to construe by their minority definition of a term and then place it on everything that might then fit the definition, even if it was never mentioned explicitly, or even existed at the time of the author's mention. --Shuki (talk) 16:37, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with your analysis.
- But sincerely, I don't think we are on the wrong side of the red line.
- The reference that I used for the political parties is Anita Shapira and 2 other scholars. These are not Post-Zionists (ideological adversaries of Neo-Zionists) and these are not just journalists but academics who specialized on the Israeli society.
- For Im Titzu, they describe themselves as such on their website and other do so too.
- There was already a category named "Kahanism" (much more discussable from my point of view) that I englobed in this one.
- The only litiguous case that I see is that I extended the category a little bit to cases without trying to find sources but as a consequence I restricted myself to cases where, if I don't check for sources, it cannot be denied they concern Neo-Zionism (ex. Professors for a Strong Israel, Aryeh Eldad, Movement for Greater Israel...). I don't think it is WP:OR. It is rather a case of "reference needed" at worse. And if somebody disagrees, I will just ask me to chose a better option between : Anti-Zionism, Post-Zionism, Secular Zionism or Zionism...
- NB: I am sorry for your topic ban. The I-P arena is really unpleasant and "staying
alive" unbanned is a miracle. I you fear that this discussion could cause you trouble or tire you, there is no need to go on this right now. Pluto2012 (talk) 17:57, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Your topic ban
[edit]As you note in the thread directly above, you shouldn't have commented in this discussion. As such, your comments were not considered in the closure.
I strongly encourage you to not do this again, as another admin might have sanctioned you rather than merely giving this warning, based upon your past history, for example.
If you have any concerns about this message, feel free to start a thread at [[WP:AN], where I welcome community review of my words here. - jc37 00:23, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for watching out. My topic ban is not for Israeli history issues, so I suggest you first describe here how you justified this judge-jury decision without approaching me in good faith. Per AGF, my 'past history' is over a year ago and I expect a bit more consideration. If I take it to ANI, is it technically possible to regenerate the comment for ANI (not the cat discussion that is closed)? It seems to have been deleted and not in my contribution history either. --Shuki (talk) 22:33, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
- Right page, wrong thread. I've corrected the link. My apologies for any misunderstanding.
- And I'll leave others to decide how to interpret "broadly construed". As I merely left a warning and not a WP:BLOCK. Please feel free to ask arbcom for a clarification at your discretion. - jc37 19:44, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- It would have been easier to ask the admin who closed the tban and let me edit Israel articles. --Shuki (talk) 19:51, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Ariel University
[edit]Hi Shuki, how are you? I understand you can help me with edits to the Ariel University page: Under -Academic boycotts- it says: In 2009, the Spanish Housing Ministry disqualified the university from taking part in an international architectural competition in 2009. The Spanish government explained that their decision to ban the university was a result of it being located in Palestinian occupied territories. While this is true, the end result was this: University wins victory over BDS efforts Spanish government pays compensation to Ariel Universy, which is in the West Bank, after lawsuit over decision to disqualify school team from academic competition because it comes from 'occupied territories'. you can see source here: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4749397,00.html
Furthermore the 165 academics boycott in 2011 was actually 155, as cited on haaretz (a more creditable source then huffington post imo): http://www.haaretz.com/israel-prize-laureates-join-academic-boycott-of-settlement-university-1.335954 and a hebrew source: http://www.haaretz.co.il/news/education/1.1155914 If you'd like, it's worth mentioning that there are actually thousands of academics in Israel so a supposed boycott by 155 people is relativily minor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noam G (talk • contribs) 08:17, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Nomination of List of rosh yeshivas for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of rosh yeshivas is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of rosh yeshivas until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. PuzzledvegetableIs it teatime already? 18:36, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
The article Burqa Barbie has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No evidence of notability; the only press coverage appears to be a small amount of promotional churnalism at the time, and the artist hasn't an article. Previous reference was a Daily Mail story called out as "fake" on the talk page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. David Gerard (talk) 13:18, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

The article Kalman Liebskind has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Crap sourcing. Even crapper inline citation. WP:GNG not clearly established.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Iskandar323 (talk) 04:04, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
