WikiProject Canadian Sport

edit

I'd love to help out with this project. Do we just start picking off the To Do List? -Coppercanuck (talk) 02:33, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have been adding to that list, working on re-organization of topics and then there will be plenty to do with cleaning up various articles. We need to clean up the discussion board on the project page and then all this discussion can go there. HalifaxRage (talk) 09:54, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Project banners

edit

Hi, I like that you are adding banners. As a favour, could you please use the template WikiProjectBannerShell when you are adding second or later project banners to a Talk page? It looks cleaner. Example:

{{WikiProjectBannerShell|1= {{Ice hockey|class=B}}
{{WikiProject Toronto|class=B|importance=high}}
{{WikiProject Canada|sport=yes|on=yes|class=B|importance=High}} }}

Cheers. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 21:16, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and another favour. Could you please add the template 'Canadian English' too? That warns other editors to not substitute 'defenseman' for 'defenceman' for example. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk)

Project: Canadian Sport

edit

Inoticed you recently updated an article dealing with Sport in Canada. You might be interested to know that there is a project aimed at improving articles on this subject. Feel free to stop by and help out, we'd love to have you! HalifaxRage (talk) 11:23, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is very kind of you, but the edit i made was merely removing vandalism; And unfortunately i know little to nothing of Canada as i have never been there myself. Best of luck with the wikiproject though! :) Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 11:27, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm a little new to Wikipedia article editing and all, and hope this doesn't break protocol, but I came across this interesting article regarding Jennifer Jones of the Canadian curling team, and followed links from that article until they led here to you. I didn't realize she was a lawyer! Here's the article:

http://www.lawyersweekly.ca/index.php?section=article&articleid=64

I hope it comes in handy! --Sapientialis (talk) 08:48, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Baseball Canada

edit

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Baseball Canada requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Stifle (talk) 15:01, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Baseball Canada

edit

I appreciate the work you're doing, however I would also appreciate you not deleting this page. I am overhauling WP:CSPORT and many pages for governing bodies such as this one are either stubs or nonexistent so I will be filling them in as I go. For the time being I have moved this one along enough that it is no longer a one-line stub. Feel free to help out if you're interested in the project. HalifaxRage (talk) 06:01, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

It won't be deleted for now. Stifle (talk) 08:04, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Baseball B.C.

edit

The article Baseball B.C. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable amateur league, fails WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –– Jezhotwells (talk) 22:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Pierre Groulx

edit

The article Pierre Groulx has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi. When you recently edited Joey Haddad, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page AHL (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Unknown-importance Toronto Blue Jays articles

edit

So, I kinda went to town on the list of Blue Jays articles, and the category is now empty. It was a bit addictive to check on some of the older players, and others who were in Toronto for just a short while. Regards, PKT(alk) 18:07, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I noticed the list was shrinking rapidly! And I know what you mean about the slight addiction. HalifaxRage (talk) 18:31, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

August 2020

  Hello, I'm Muboshgu. Your recent edit to the page Jonathan Villar appears to have added premature information about a reported sports transaction, so it has been removed for now. The transaction is based on anonymous sources and/or awaiting an official announcement. If you believe the transaction has been completed, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:11, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Reports on the Blue Jays acquiring Villar are probably correct, but unverified. We wait for the team to announce a trade, as the deal could be pending and fail to be completed. We are an encyclopedia, not a WP:BREAKING news site. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:20, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
