🌍🚗 An international look at the mobility of tomorrow Last week, Board Spokesman of the NFF - Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik Thomas Vietor had the honor of welcoming Carsten Müller, Member of the German Bundestag, together with New Zealand Ambassador Craig John Hawke for an exchange on the challenges and differences of future mobility in Europe and Oceania. During the visit, central topics of mobility research, particularly in the areas of autonomous driving and connectivity, were discussed intensively. It became clear that the requirements for mobility in Germany and New Zealand vary considerably. One example of this is electromobility: in New Zealand, the long distances pose particular challenges that make it difficult to develop the necessary infrastructure. Alternative drive systems are therefore becoming more of a focus. The participants were also given a tour of the technical facilities of the NFF of Technische Universität Braunschweig, where they gained insights into the research of the Institute for Electrical Machines, Drives and Trains (IMAB) as well as the construction of the autonomous shuttle RAION by the Institute of Automotive Engineering (IfF) and the use of the driving simulator in various scientific projects. The lively exchange highlighted the potential of international cooperation to develop innovative solutions for the mobility of tomorrow. We would like to thank Carsten Müller and John Craig Hawke for their inspiring visit and the stimulating discussions! #nffbraunschweig #tubraunschweig #niedersachsen #braunschweig #MobilityoftheFuture #AutonomousDriving #Innovation #Sustainability #InternationalCollaboration

Innovation through diversity💡! In order to develop optimal solutions for the mobility and transportation of the future, interdisciplinarity is needed at all levels - this was impressively demonstrated at the 15th general meeting of the NFF - Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik. Professor Thorsten Schrader of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB, NFF research field coordinator Dr. Maximilian Flormann and Nadine Pieper from Technische Universität Braunschweig gave an insight into the current progress made in establishing a Future Mobility Hub at BS #Forschungsflughafen. With the planned real-world laboratory for the transformation of the mobility industry, the NFF will bring together various stakeholders - university and non-university - and from different disciplines from the mobility sector so that they can get to know and understand each other's interests. The first milestones include the first autonomous journey of the #RAION passenger shuttle🚌🤖 in real road traffic on Hermann-Blenk-Straße in March 2024 and the official opening of the #H2terminal in June 2024 in the immediate vicinity of the NFF🔋💧. In a keynote speech, junior professor Henriette Bertram raised awareness among those present that gender and diversity perspectives should be given even greater consideration in research and development as well as in tests and applications, as people have different life realities and use services and products from different contexts. ___________________ #nffbraunschweig #tubraunschweig #autonomousdriving #transformation #traffic #mobility #urbanmobility #research #digitalization #digital #future #niedersachsen #technology #braunschweig #technology #ki #ai #publictransport #transport #future #autonomousdriving #electromobility

#Videotip for the start of the week📽️ More and more parcels, but fewer and fewer skilled workers. So what can be done? A European consortium of 13 organizations and institutions has developed a possible answer: a complete solution for a fully autonomous logistics concept consisting of two autonomous hub and delivery vehicles.🤖📦 An efficient, reliable and sustainable delivery solution for the logistics of the future, according to the researchers' vision. But how does the solution work? We spoke to Professor Thomas Vietor (NFF/ TU Braunschweig), Clément Lemardelé and Albert Baldó i Canut from CARNET, Dr. Adina Aniculaesei (TU Clausthal) and others about this. The Stadt Braunschweig was chosen as the location for testing this delivery solution - and for good reason, as Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum emphasizes in the video. Roll the camera! 🫴The project was co-funded by the EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology, with an amount of 1,356,610 euros. 🤝Consortium: CARNET (leadership) | NFF - Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik | Technische Universität Braunschweig | Technische Universität Clausthal (TU Clausthal, Clausthal University of Technology) | Center for Digital Technologies (DIGIT) | Stadt Braunschweig | Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH - Wirtschaftsförderung | Volkswagen | Vaive Logistics | PTV Group | LMAD | DeliveryCouple | Dirección General de Tráfico | New Mobility Solutions Hamburg GmbH | CityLogin Iberia | Catalonia Logistics | IRI - Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial, CSIC-UPC | Ajuntament d'Esplugues de Llobregat

Transformation and digitalization are on everyone's lips. New tools, processes and technologies everywhere. Upheaval everywhere - but the focus should continue to be on people as an interface but also as a yardstick. Parcel delivery by autonomously driving robot, all the information via the app on the cell phone - the "LogiSmile" project has shown what will be possible in the future. The recent Future Day for school pupils also shows that orientation is becoming increasingly important in these almost disruptive times. On April 25, 120 girls visited the NFF and NFL institutes for a day to find out about research content and careers in mobility on the ground and in the air. What do they want to do later? A third of the ten to 16-year-olds in the NFF lecture hall have "no idea at all" according to the results of the survey and by their own admission. Then there was amazement at the spectacular images from space presented by Professor Silvestri from the Institute of Space Systems, but also amazement at the field of activity that the children did not expect at a technical university from lawyer Pauline Fellenberg. As Managing Director of the Mobility Law Research Center, she deals with topics that represent an important interface between technology and society. This also shows that the focus should always be on people and they should be given the opportunity to decide, participate and - if necessary - veto. After all, technological progress is a dynamic process that is influenced by many factors. This includes political decisions and economic conditions as well as social needs and cultural influences. Let's hope that as many of the students as possible enjoy and are interested in helping to shape this process in the future! ___________________ #nffbraunschweig #tubraunschweig #autonomousdriving #transformation #traffic #mobility #urbanmobility #research #digitalization #digital #future #niedersachsen #technology #braunschweig #technology #ki #ai #publictransport #transport #future #autonomousdriving #electromobility #law #framework #study #mobilitylaw #school

Science instead of the classroom: 120 schoolgirls between the ages of ten and sixteen immersed themselves in the world of mobility research on April 25. NFF - Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum Fahrzeugtechnik, NFL - Niedersächsisches Forschungszentrum für Luftfahrt and Cluster of Excellence SE²A - Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation provided information about research content and careers related to mobility on the ground 🚗 and inthe air ✈️ at the Research Airport Campus of the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Our common goal: to get young women interested in science and engineering! That's why staff from the institutes at the NFF opened up laboratories, test benches and lecture halls and took the schoolgirls on a journey of discovery. From hydrogen and chromatography to 3D printing, robotics and autonomous driving, there was plenty to marvel at - and above all to try out! The day showed that technological progress is a dynamic process that is influenced by many factors. This includes political decisions and economic conditions as well as social needs and cultural influences. Let's hope that as many of the students as possible have fun and are interested in helping to shape this process in the future - preferably as scientists at the NFF in a few years' time! ____________ #nffbraunschweig #tubraunschweig #kennenlernen #forschung #studierende #studium #forschung #studylife #praxis #talk #austausch #nachwuchs #lernen #maschinenbau #nffnews #willkommen #welcome #mobility #braunschweig #niedersachsen #research #mint
