We are the Institute of Machine Tools and Production Technology (Institut für Werkzeugmaschinen und Fertigungstechnik, IWF) of the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany. Our institute is jointly headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Dröder and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Herrmann who hold the Chairs of Manufacturing Technology & Process Automation and Sustainable Production & Life Cycle Engineering respectively.
Together, we strive for novel technologies and innovations for future manufacturing, products, and services that enable the highest efficiency, flexibility and sustainability.
Therefore, our research is divided into:
🪁 Hybrid Lightweight Structures and Integrated Manufacturing
♻️ Life Cycle Engineering
🦾 Assembly and Production Automation
🌱 Sustainable Manufacturing & Factory Systems
🧰 Production Technology
🧙 System of Systems Engineering
Across both chairs, we connect our respective methods and tools within focus teams, e.g. for 🔋 Sustainable Battery Production or 🏙 Urban Production.
