Hello and welcome to my anidb.net page! I am amy. You may call me by name without any suffix, or with either a "-san" or "-chan" suffix, but please do not use another suffix with me unless I give you permission to do so. For those new to Japanese, "amy-san" is more respectful, "amy-chan" is more endearing, and "amy" would be somewhat intimate in Japan, but is acceptable in this case since most users of this website seem to primarily speak English. You do not need to capitalize "amy".

I guess some people must like my writing style because a lot of my content ends up getting plagiarized. I would rather someone ask me for help writing a blog entry or post than copy my words verbatim. If you could use a hand with your writing, hit me up! I love helping people with stuff like that. I am a casual fan of Japanese animation and other Japanese media. I like many forms, including anime, manga, novels, etc, but only when they are spoken or written in Japanese. I think a large percentage of the English translations of Japanese works are of embarrassingly low quality. As for my own proficiency, I speak, read, and write a bit of Japanese, but I refuse to describe myself as "fluent" until I take (and pass) the JLPT. I do still use English subtitles when I watch anime most of the time. If you have any questions pertaining to the Japanese language, I can't promise that I will be able to answer you but feel free to ask anyway! And because I hate getting incorrect or misleading answers when someone just guesses at a question I asked (perhaps because they wanted to appear smart?), I can promise you that I will not guess an answer to any questions you might ask me unless there is a really good reason for me to guess (like if I think my guess would offer insight even if it were wrong), and in that case I promise to make it clear that I am just guessing. If I don't know the answer to your question, I will tell you that I don't know the answer.

I only consider myself a "casual" fan of anime because there are so many people on here who seem to watch anime all day! I can't manage that, and so I just watch whenever I feel like it. I occasionally also read manga and shousetsu (I think they're called "light novels" in English "light novels"), but not very often yet because I am a slow reader, especially when there are a lot of difficult kanji that I might have to look up. If my previous parenthetical made you question my nationality, I am from the United States, but I don't know all the English terms for Japanese concepts sometimes.

My other hobbies don't really matter for a site like this, but I should mention that I am rather anti-social when it comes to offline social interactions, and sometimes online ones as well depending on my mood. I love to write with people online! But depending on my mood, I am sometimes slow to reply. If you message or e-mail me, I might reply the same day, but it could be weeks or even months if I have been feeling especially anti-social. I do not like real-time interaction at all, including video, calls, and even IM; if you want to talk with me, please stick to asynchronous channels, such as private messaging or e-mail.

I mostly like to talk about anime, language (not just Japanese -- I love linguistics!), art, eroticism, and to role play. Small talk does not come naturally for me. I get nervous when I can't decide what to say, so I greatly prefer it when the person I am talking to leads the conversation.

When it comes to anime, I will try just about anything that has fewer than 50 episodes even if I don't usually like the genre. I used to also watch long-running anime, but I have rarely done so in recent years. I find that the anime I like generally fall into one or more of the following categories (intentionally numbered starting from two to match the numbers I used in my "favorites" lists):

2. Drama, Romance, and Slice of Life
3. Science-Fiction and Psychological Thrillers
4. Steamy Pleasures (that sounds nicer than "porn")

I especially like stories that beg tough questions about morality: ethical dilemmas, forbidden love (especially yuri), and stories where the protagonist is actually the "villain". Regardless of the genre, I dislike it when there is discontinuity (i.e. there are mistakes) in the plot.

~ Well, I got a job which is visible in the stagnating stats.
And after I started playing FGO in August I almost stopped watching anime because the game is successfully stealing even more of my time.
