창간

20세기

제2차 세계 대전 이후 등록자는 순식간에 3,000명 이상으로 늘어났다.[18]캠퍼스에는 대량의 주택과 여러 개의 학술 건물이 세워져야 했다.[18]1950년대에는 파이팅 수스 하키 전통이 생겨났다.[19]1960년대와 1970년대에 UN에서 많은 학생 시위가 일어났다.[20]가장 큰 것은 1970년 5월 1500명이 넘는 학생들이 켄트 주 총기 난사 사건에 항의했을 때였다.[20]1975년에 등록은 기록적인 8,500명으로 늘어났다.1970년대에도 존 D가 설립되었다. 1980년대와 1990년대 동안 오데가르드 우주과학대학은 계속 성장했다.[21]그러나 파괴적인 1997년 홍수로 캠퍼스의 수많은 건물들이 물에 잠겼고, 남은 학년의 휴학을 강요했다.[22]

21세기

캠퍼스

노스다코타 대학의 메인 캠퍼스는 유니버시티 애비뉴에 있는 그랜드 포크스 한가운데에 자리잡고 있다.캠퍼스는 550에이커(2.2km2)에 240개의 건물로 이루어져 있다.[3]캠퍼스는 동서로 대략 1마일 반 정도 뻗어 있으며 굽이치는 잉글리쉬 쿨리에 의해 나뉘어져 있다.서쪽 가장자리는 29번 주간고속도로와 접하고 동쪽 가장자리는 대학공원과 접하고, 남쪽에는 그랜드 포크스(Grand Forks) ralyards(Grand Forks)의 게이트웨이 드라이브(Gateway Drive)라고 불리는 미국 2번 고속도로가 표시되어 있다.

중앙캠퍼스 및 동부캠퍼스

UND의 가장 오래된 부분인 중앙 캠퍼스 지역에는 역사적인 건물들이 많이 있다.[30]이 지역은 캠퍼스에 있는 대부분의 학술용 건물들이 모여 있는 곳이다.캠퍼스 중심에는 노스다코타에서 가장 큰 도서관인 체스터 프리츠 도서관이 자리 잡고 있다.이 도서관의 82피트(25m) 높이의 탑은 유니버시티 애버뉴의 친숙한 랜드마크다.[30]도서관 뒤에는 중앙 캠퍼스 몰의 공원 같은 설정이 있다.이 쇼핑몰은 여러 개의 동상을 포함하고 있으며 학생들이 공부하기에 인기 있는 곳이다.이 쇼핑몰에는 메리필드 홀, 트램리 홀, 밥콕 홀, 몽고메리 홀, 옛 카네기 도서관 등 역사적인 건물들이 줄지어 있다.[30]올드메인 메모리얼 플라자와 올드메인 메모리얼 구의 영원한 불꽃은 캠퍼스 최초의 건물인 올드메인의 위치를 표시한다.[30]캠퍼스 중앙부에 있는 다른 건물들로는 법대, 노스다코타 미술관, 메모리얼 유니온, 갬블 홀, 버트니스 극장 등이 있다.[31]잉글리쉬 쿨리는 중앙 캠퍼스 지역의 서쪽 가장자리를 따라 흐르고 쿨리 서쪽 둑에는 체스터 프리츠 강당과 휴즈 미술관이 자리 잡고 있다.1907년 역사적인 아델피 분수는 캠퍼스 내 영적 센터인 쿨리 옆에 있다.[30][32]

랄프 엥겔슈타트 아레나

기타시설

UND는 항공 학생들이 훈련하는 그랜드 포크스 국제공항에서 여러 건물로 구성된 위성 캠퍼스를 운영하고 있다.[35]UN 항공우주국은 미네소타주 크룩스턴과 애리조나주 피닉스에도 비행훈련센터를 운영하고 있다.[36]UND는 메인 UND 캠퍼스 남쪽의 레이 리처즈 9홀 골프장을 소유하고 운영한다.[37]의학 및 보건 과학 학교는 노스다코타 전역에 여러 개의 클리닉을 운영하고 있다.[38]UND 축구팀은 그랜드 포크스가 소유한 알러스 센터의 주요 입주팀이다.

지속가능성

다양한 부서의 대표들로 구성된 환경보호 및 지속가능성 협의회는 지속가능성을 개선하기 위한 방안을 모색하고 있다.이 캠퍼스의 재활용 시스템은 UND의 전체 폐기물 흐름을 20%까지 줄인다.UND는 조명 개량을 실시하고 피크 및 오프피크 사용 조정을 위한 열 회수 시스템 및 전력 관리 기술을 설치했다.학생들은 재활용과 다른 이니셔티브를 통해 지속가능성을 촉진하는데 관여한다.이 대학은 지속가능한 기부금 연구소가 발표한 2011년 대학 지속가능성 성적표에서 B등급을 받았다.[39]

캠퍼스에 있는 고레키 동창회 센터는 노스다코타의 첫 번째 LEED Platinum 빌드다.이 건물은 지열판과 태양열판을 조합하여 건물에 전력을 공급한다.[40]

학문

UND는 학부 전공자 108명, 미성년자 69명, 석사과정 81명, 박사과정 37명, 전문과정 2개(의학과 법률) 등 225개 이상의 분야를 개설하고 있다.[41]UND는 또한 학생들이 사실상 모든 과목에서 학위를 취득할 수 있도록 하는 학제간 프로그램을 가지고 있다.[42]국내외 학생들을 위해 온라인 수업과 학위프로그램의 모음이 제공된다.[43]이 온라인 프로그램은 US News와 다른 주요 온라인 대학 순위에 의해 높은 순위에 올랐다.[44][45][46]캠퍼스 내에는 20여 명의 학생이 앉을 수 있는 작은 방부터 수백 명이 동시에 앉을 수 있는 큰 강의실까지 다양한 학예 교실이 마련돼 있다.모든 영역은 노트북을 위한 무선 접속이 가능하고, 기술적으로 갖춰진 교실은 교수들이 대화형 강의를 할 수 있게 해준다.

체스터 프리츠 도서관

남자 아이스하키 대표팀이 전국대회 8승을 거두며 5차례 준우승을 차지했다.축구팀은 2001년 디비전2 전국선수권대회에서 우승해 2003년 준우승을 차지, 알러스센터에서 활약하고 있다.농구와 배구팀은 베티 엥겔슈타트 수스 센터에서 경기를 한다.여자 농구팀은 1997, 1998, 1999년에 세 번의 전국 선수권 대회에서 우승했고 2001년에 준우승을 했다.

학생회
