This is definitely a go-to neighborhood happy hour spot. ALWAYS expect it to be crowded around this time. Happy hour specials are great, love the margaritas and the tacos. I cannot leave without ordering 1 or 4 of the 50/50s. Those will get you where you want to be. I've always had good experiences with service as well.
One thing I will note is they automatically include gratuity and for some reason I've missed it on the receipt and they may have had complaints about this because a few times they have highlighted the gratuity portion.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Stewie V.New York, NY170159584Jul 8, 2024
Restaurant was pretty empty (Sunday evening) I'm guessing because of no AC and it's only ceiling fans to cool you off. Ordered a Mango Margarita on the rocks. It was good, with a good amount of liquor, had ice but it just wasn't cold at all and never got cold even with the ice. Also ordered their frozen Blue Patron drink as we just wanted something cold and it was very good.
No complimentary chips were given as in like most Mexican sitdown restaurants. On to the food which came out extremely fast, made me a little worried it was pre-made or something.
We got a order of Guacamole. It was fine guac and it was on the spicy side. I like spicy my date does not because of a stomach ulcer. Wish they would tell you before Guac has a kick. She couldn't eat it we didn't complain. Please note if you want extra chips which just about all Mexican restaurants provide as courtesy they charge you $2.50 for, it's written in very small fine print on menu.
Ordered a Burrito Plate of Steak, comes with rice, beans, a little bit of lettuce, peppers, a small wedge of avocado and the standard sour cream and sauces. It was good, but not great. My date ordered Mexican Pulled Pork tacos which come with pico de gallo which is spicy. We told the Waitress can you not put pico de gallo and leave out anything spicy from the taco and put it on the side please. Waitress says cool. A different girl brings Tacos with Pico De Gallo inside and a small slab of spicy Guac on top. As she brings it she tells us Pico de Gallo is inside I'm like "We just asked no spicy things on the Taco." Shes like oh the Guac is a little spicy too. I'm like "any chance you can give just a piece of avocado instead of Guac." She's like let me talk to someone cause they gonna charge extra.
Goes to bar to speak to manager and the waitress that took our order. Saw the waitress mouth off "The Guac isn't spicy" Doesn't come back to us to let us know if manager approved or not. Brings a thin slice of small avocado wedge and we later realized it was added to the bill as a $2 charge. Lol why do restaurants do things like this and would rather upset customers that are spending money. I just spent $100 worth of food and drinks at your place and you are charging for something that was actually a mistake on your Staffs part. We said don't put anything spicy on the taco. Also they add automatic 18% gratuity on your bill even for parties of 2, which means waitress doesn't really have to try and earn their tip. Food was decent not great, drinks were good. Would come only for their Happy Hour as their service was lacking and the food didn't overcome the staffs lack of service skills.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 1 - May 31, 20244 check-ins
It's so easy to say great things simply because
location - great
food - great
service - great
drinks - great
vibes - great
familiar easy going crowd - yes!
decor - fun, festive
music - R&B rules!
Love that corn, yum. The crab and shrimp tacos are my fave. The food is light , doesn't leave you w/ that stuffed feeling. You got room for sips.
Perfect place for lunch, to meet w/ friends afterwork or for part 2 following an early brunch.
This one can stay!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 223471804Jul 4, 2024
My first time here and the vibe is good.. Real Mexican vibes.. I came here for a late night bite.. I ordered the chicken nachos, which was really big with a side of beans and rice.. Food was really good, I was very impressed.. Plenty of TV's at the bar to watch the games, full bar available.. My server name was Yass and she was really good, super friendly and make sure I was good.. Clean establishment, plenty of space for seating..

Guys!!! Shut up lol I came back....
They got an extra star this time cause our waiter recommended the Blue Patron margarita !!
That's the one !! She's a keeper !!
Guac was still just ok... smh
Wings same, and check out how tiny the tacos are.
Lord I can't deal... They have vegan tacos, I don't remember seeing that last time.
Waiter Yennifer was 10/10 great... was sad to hear Ernesto stopped working there he was a good one too.
The vibe was much calmer, not over crowded...
(Surprising on a Saturday at 7pm)
Bathroom still needs cleaning, stinks.
18% gratuity added already for a party of two.
If I come back it's for the blue patron & waiter was a sweetheart.
I'll skip on the food.
Enjoy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 16, 2024Previous reviewThis will be quick....
-Came here on national margarita day
(on a Thursday) it was packed.
-waited to get seated hostess was nice.
-tried a couple margs... wasn't a fan.
-ordered apps...guac was ok, feedback from coworker on the wings was same...
-waiter Ernesto was 10/10, attentive, sociable, all around good service from him.
-Inside looks rough, not the cleanest.
-This place is small & gets crowded quick... it wasn't my type of vibe.
-It was a one & done for me, won't be back.
Enjoy! - Jul 20, 2024
If you're coming for happy hour, get there as early as possible because this location gets packed extremely fast. The food is alright a solid 7 at best. The frozen rum punch is definitely the highlight along with the good tunes they be playing. Definitely cool after work happy hour spot.

Cantina on Lenox was the perfect place to meet up with a friend for a holiday lunch date. I can't believe I just remembered to write this review. If you arrive when they open you will have a better chance of getting a seat. By the time we left the place was packed. The food and service is good and the price for the lunch special is perfect. If you live, work, or are visiting this neighborhood at lunch time I recommend!

Came here randomly after work and stumbled upon their happy hour. I honestly was not expecting much but I was actually pleasantly surprised. The food and drinks were both very good. The chicken quesadilla was flavorful, and the portion was great. I love how they didn't skimp on the portion even though I ordered off the happy hour menu. With my food, I also got a passion fruit margarita and it was absolutely delicious. It was strong but not overpowering. I work in the area, so I can most definitely see myself coming back.

This place was introduced to me when I stated my new job and the first week they invited me to come hang out at cantinas after work. Of course I'm down for happy hour and Mexican dishes. The place is a decent size with inside and outside covered seating. The hostess are a okay and make sure Ms the entire party is here as there is only 90 minute seating. We order our food and the waiters are attentive and food and drinks come pretty fast. The orders can get mixed up at times but just have to work around that but over all the place is a great after work vibes.

Even with happy the drinks are pretty strong. The variety of tacos they have are taste and go great with your margarita!
The service here is pretty good always attentive and have not disappointed anytime I have been here in the last few years.
The atmosphere is self is pretty vibrant and bust at all times. Good to come with a great or smaller as they are very accommodating and music makes this place even better. Definitely recommend anyone to come here or their other location as well! - 101301173Oct 25, 2023
