The Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) center is a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting those affected by ALS. While here your care will be coordinated by a neuro-muscular physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, social worker, pharmacist, and other healthcare professionals who are experts in their field.
The Cole Center is a subspeciality neurology clinic geared towards treating Parkinson’s disease and variety of other movement disorders including tremors, dystonia, chorea, and drug induced abnormal movements among others. The clinic has a diverse multidisciplinary team, and utilizes the most recent technology to address patient needs.
We bring together the latest technology and the most experienced neurosurgeons, or doctors who focus on the brain and spine. We combine these with operating room facilities devoted to spine surgeries – all under one roof.
Treatment for stroke can be complex, requiring a robust process and an expert team. To reduce the long-term negative impact of stroke on our community, the Brain & Spine Institute has organized services into a seamless Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Our Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) interdisciplinary team is composed of movement-disorder neurologists trained in DBS, a neurosurgeon who specializes in DBS surgeries, physical therapists, neuropsychologists and a DBS coordinator. We bring the latest technology and research to achieve the shared goal of giving patients the best quality of life.
Our Neurocritical Care team, at The University of Tennessee Medical Center, has more neurointensivists (medical doctors specializing in critically ill neurological/neurosurgical patients) than any other hospital in East Tennessee. Our state-of-the-art unit design provides the highest level of care for patients and their families.
The Neuro-Oncology Program at The University of Tennessee Medical Center provides state-of-the-art treatment for patients with tumors (malignant and benign) of the nervous system, including the brain and spine. Our team provides expert care for patients who experience neurological complications from cancer, cancer therapies or related disorders.
Inspired by the vision of the late, legendary Coach Pat Summitt for Alzheimer’s care in our community, The Pat Summitt Clinic opened in January 2017 with a multi-disciplinary approach to providing specialized care to patients and families and pioneering research in the area of Alzheimer’s disease. The Pat Summitt Foundation, a fund of the East Tennessee Foundation, is a valued collaborator of the medical center in this impactful area of care.
Rehabilitation Services offers the most advanced methods of treatment and therapy services. We are committed to improving your quality of life by providing leadership in rehabilitation. Our therapists and experts are available for various services.
University Neurohospitalists is a hospital-based inpatient neurology (neurohospitalist) service providing consultation service for our stroke and general neurology patients. The service provides 24/7 inpatient neurology coverage with board certified neurologists and neurology nurse practitioners covering stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA) and general neurology.
We are a full-service neurology clinic. We offer neurological consultation, Nerve Conduction Studies (electrical testing of nerve function), EMG (a test of muscle and nerve function), and EEG (brainwave testing).
The UT Sleep Disorders Center was established in 1998 and is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The UT Sleep Disorders Center’s mission is to correctly identify, diagnose, treat and continue to care for individuals suffering from the whole spectrum of disorders of sleep and wakefulness.
The University Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center is staffed with a unique team of specialists, all dedicated to healing chronic wounds. The combined knowledge of our team members creates a multidisciplinary approach to wound management.
