ESCWA and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in Egypt are collaborating in forging the country’s first evidence-based Integrated National Financing Strategy through a set of ESCWA dynamic tools. The aim is to support Egyptian policymakers explore the costs and benefits of alternate financing solutions; assess the impact of public spending decisions and their sequencing; project and simulate financing trajectories and estimate financing trade-offs and synergies, all of which support forging integrated financing frameworks at the country level.
The workshop highlights the results of the joint work. It builds on several rounds of technical consultations and advances actionable steps towards the adoption of an Integrated National Financing Framework to boost resilience, manage shocks and ensure sustained financing for Egypt’s sustainable development ambitions.
The tools received wide recognition, notably by the Secretary-General of the United Nations. They include SDG-Costing Calculators, Financing Simulators, Funding Gap Solvers, AI Budget Intelligence Tools.
