Saturday, 31 August        

Today is International Day for People of African Descent.              

Today, the Secretary-General is in Timor-Leste, where he took part in the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the referendum in the country. Later in the day, he will head to Singapore (1-2 September) where he will meet with senior government officials. And from 3-5 September he will be in China, where he will take part in the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

There are no events scheduled for today.         

Monday, 2 September      

Today is a UN Official holiday and the UN Headquarters in New York will be closed.      

In Geneva, the 31st Session of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) will continue until 5 September.  The 97th Session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) will continue until 13 September. 

Today, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is expected to release its State of the Climate in Africa report.  

Tuesday, 3 September

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV. This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.  

At 1:00 p.m., there will be a press briefing by Ambassador Samuel Zbogar, Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the United Nations and Security Council President for the month of September.     

In Geneva, the UN Information Service will hold its bi-weekly briefing for journalists.     

In Astana, the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation will be held from 3 to 5 September.  

Wednesday, 4 September

At 10:00 a.m., the General Assembly will hold its 105th plenary meeting

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV. This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly. 

Thursday, 5 September

Today is International Day of Charity.            

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV. This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.  

In Rio de Janeiro, the Fifth Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet will be held from 5 to 6 September. The Conference is being co-convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat, and hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.  

Friday, 6 September

Also in Geneva, at 9:15 a.m., the Sudan Independent International Fact-Finding Mission’s first investigative report will be launched.
