     Marian Clare Laurie was born on 3 July 1927.1 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir John Emilius Laurie of Maxwelton, 6th Bt. and Evelyn Clare Gardner Richardson-Gardner.2 She married Hector Laing, Baron Laing of Dunphail, son of Hector Stanley Laing and Margaret Norris Grant, on 1 April 1950.1 She died on 20 January 2020 at age 92.3
     After her marriage, Marian Clare Laurie was styled as Baroness Laing of Dunphail on 8 February 1991. She lived in 2003 at High Meadows, Windsor Road, Gerrard's Cross, Buckinghamshire, England.1

     Sir John Michael Bennet Lawes, 5th Bt. was born on 24 October 1932 at Blything, Suffolk, England.1,2 He was the son of Sir John Claud Lawes, 4th Bt. and Kathleen Marjorie Livingstone Hodgson.3 He died in 2009.4
     He was educated at Elizabeth College, Guernsey, Channel Islands.1 On 29 June 1949 at Guernsey, Channel Islands, he stood trial for shooting and wounding a detective, and received probation.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Lawes, of Rothamsted, co. Hertford [U.K., 1882] on 9 December 1979.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.4

     He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 In 1763 he inherited Rothamsted from his cousin Thomas Wittewronge, the last of his line.1
