Adam Blackwood was born in 1539 at Dunfermline, Fife, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of William Blackwood and unknown wife Reid.2 He married Catherine Courtinier, daughter of unknown Courtinier.1 He died in 1613.1
In 1558 he returned briefly to Scotland on his great-uncle Bishop Reid's death but was soon back in Paris.1 He was educated at Paris University, Paris, FranceG.1 He enjoyed the patronage of Mary Queen of Scots, married to the Dauphin of France.1 He published several works in praise of the Queen, who arranged his appointment as Judge of the Parlement of Poitiers.1 He was Judge of the Parlement of Poitiers.1 He had four sons and seven daughters.1
