Lt.-Col. James Dighton Butler was born on 9 January 1911.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. Hon. Leslie James Probyn Butler and Mary Christal Heathcoat-Amory.1 He married Pamela Pickwoad, daughter of William Alfred Pickwoad, on 23 October 1943.1 He died on 12 March 1987 at age 76.1,2 He was buried at St. Mary's Churchyard, Tiverton, Devon, England.2
