William Bastard was born on 1 September 1727.1 He was the son of Pollexfen Bastard and Lady Bridget Poulett.1 He was baptised on 5 September 1727 at Yealmpton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He married Anne Worsley, daughter of Thomas Worsley and Anne Robinson, on 24 June 1754 at St. James, Westminster, London, England.1,2 He died in 1782 at Yealmpton, Devon, England.1,3
He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 18 May 1747.1
In September 1779 he was gazetted a Baronet, but the warrant never passed the Seals. This was for his actions when a French fleet was apparantly about to land at Plymouth, and he conducted the numerous French prisoners confined there to Exeter.1 He lived at Kitley, Devon, EnglandG.1
