Till then, this is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off with my hard-working and diligent Bengali co-commentator - Arya Sekhar Chakraborty- who was as fast as some of Meredith's deliveries with his ball-by-ball updates. See you all soon!
The 2 teams have their return fixture in less than 48 hours which should be another mouth-watering contest in Hobart. Another win for Strikers there could then prove to be a point where both the sides begin moving in opposite directions.
We will continue to bring you all the updates from the Big Bash circuit as it is the top two clash tomorrow with Brisbane Heat hosting the Perth Scorchers. Don't miss out on that one!
Adelaide Strikers (168/5 in 19.2 overs) defeat Hobart Hurricanes (165/7 in 20 overs) by 5 wickets
Matthew Short - 45 (32) | Chris Lynn - 37 (26) Nathan Ellis - 2/44 | Patrick Dooley - 1/27
Jamie Overton hits the winning runs as the Strikers swap their position in the points table with the Hurricanes, who have now dropped down to the 6th spot.
Earlier in the day, the Hurricanes inflicted an excellent resurgence with Ben McDermott's unbeaten 95 run effort taking them to 166. But it was the magic of Matt Short and Chris Lynn that took over shortly afterwards.
It was a rousing atmosphere at the Adelaide Oval as the home team raced to 100/1 within 10 overs. From there onwards, even though the Hurricanes did well to take this till the last over, it never looked like they could emerge victorious.
Alex Carey's return to the Strikers colours was met with an impactful 36 run knock that got them to the brink of victory as Strikers continue to push for the 4th spot.
For the Hurricanes bowling effort, there was not a lot to write home about, apart from the returns of their 2 spinners - Patrick Dooley and Nikhil Chaudhary - producing combined figures of 1 for 49 from their 8 overs.
Time is running out for the Hurricanes as they would be desperate to make a dash for the playoffs spot!
19.2 Corey Anderson to Jamie Overton, FOUR! The Adelaide Strikers win by 5 wickets. Full-length delivery outside the off-stump, carved away past the backward point fielder and there was no one in the deep, eventually trickles away to the fence to hand the Strikers a hard-fought victory in the end.
19.1 Corey Anderson to Jamie Overton, there was a clear outside edge there but the umpire denies. On a good-length a shade outside off, Overton goes flashing at that and gets an edge, very well caught by the keeper but the umpire didn't hear that.
And somehow, the Hurricanes have managed to push this one into the last over. 2 runs needed and it is Corey Anderson who would be the last person to be bowling in this match.
We have seen teams lose from these positions. SURELY NOT!

Patrick Dooley
1/27
18.6 Patrick Dooley to Thomas Kelly, again a flatter trajectory delivery around middle, nudged away straight to the midwicket fielder. Still 2 runs needed off 6 deliveries.
If it goes down to the last over, it will have to be the likes of either Corey Anderson or Tim David who would bowl it. There are no other options available.
18.5 Patrick Dooley to Thomas Kelly, flatter on a length a tad outside off, carved away straight to the backward point fielder.
18.4 Patrick Dooley to Thomas Kelly, that was flatter and shorter around the middle stump channel. Kelly goes for the pull shot and ends up getting a top edge, down towards the fine leg region and a couple of runs taken.
18.3 Patrick Dooley to Jamie Overton, again a flatter one on a good-length a tad outside off, worked away down the ground towards the long on fielder for a single.
18.2 Patrick Dooley to Thomas Kelly, fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, drilled down the ground towards the long-off region for a single.
18.1 Patrick Dooley to Thomas Kelly, flatter trajectory delivery on a length around off, worked away towards the midwicket region.
The Strikers have lost half their side but the equation is not a daunting one. Just 6 required from 12 balls. Should be done from here, but who knows? Dooley is back

Chris Jordan
1/37
17.6 Chris Jordan to Alex Carey, WICKET! Carey's excellent knock comes to an end. Makes some room and tries to thrash this off-cutter on a good-length over the extra cover fielder, no timing on that whatsoever as he ends up slicing it straight down the throat of the fielder. Might just be a bit too late for the Hobart Hurricanes.
Alex Carey c Nathan Ellis b Chris Jordan 36 (26b, 4x4, 1x6)
17.5 Chris Jordan to Thomas Kelly, low full toss around the middle stump channel, inside edged down towards the deep square leg region for a single.
17.4 Chris Jordan to Thomas Kelly, slower good-length delivery around the off-stump channel, Kelly goes swiping across the line, was a bit early into the shot and gets beaten.
