Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (564) - HOMESTEAD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
PERFECT TO GREAT began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped WINNING FOR ALL.
SINCERE BOY shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced ENZEMBLE.
On jumping, V Borges (PIANO SOLO) lost the use of his left stirrup iron for a short distance.
As V Borges was repositioning his foot in the iron, PIANO SOLO shifted in and bumped WINNING FOR ALL shortly after the start.
From wide barriers, SWIFT SPIRIT and SMART LEADER were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, ETERNAL BEAUTY was eased away from the heels of PRIVATE ROCKET which momentarily raced tight inside ALL FOR SOUTH which itself was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEAUTY RUSH.
After the 900 Metres, SMART FOLKS was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, PIANO SOLO commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when travelling behind PERFECT TO GREAT.
Making the turn approaching and passing the 700 Metres, SMART LEADER got its head on the side and lay out.
SMART LEADER continued to lay out making the Home Turn.
Passing the 350 Metres, KA YING EXCELLENT and SMART FOLKS bumped.
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in to consider whether PRIVATE ROCKET shifting ground over the final 100 Metres had any impact on the finishing effort of KASI FARASI which finished second.
It was established that approaching the 50 Metres PRIVATE ROCKET shifted out and brushed KASI FARASI and then close to the finishing line shifted out further and bumped KASI FARASI.
As the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident approaching the 50 Metres did not impact on KASI FARASI ability to finish off the race, that matter was not proceeded with.
Further, the Stewards were of the opinion that the contact between the horses was too close to the finishing line to have any material effect on the finishing positions and therefore they elected not to proceed to a formal protest/objection hearing.
Whilst it did not have any bearing on the Stewards' decision in respect of this matter, it should be noted that J Moreira, the rider of KASI FARASI, did not lodge a protest/objection after viewing the videos of the concluding stages of the race.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY RUSH, KA YING EXCELLENT and SINCERE BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PRIVATE ROCKET and KASI FARASI were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:

31 March 2021 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 8 (553) The Stewards today questioned Mr K W Lui, the trainer of SUNSET WATCH, regarding the improved performance of that horse as compared to its previous start when it finished last, beaten 13½ lengths.
Mr Lui said at its previous start some use of the horse had been made in the early stages to overcome its wide barrier.
He said due to the circumstances of that race SUNSET WATCH was required to travel wide and without cover for the majority of the race and, in his opinion, because of this was not able to finish off its race.
He said when successful last Wednesday night, SUNSET WATCH was ridden more quietly from a similar barrier to ensure that it obtained cover and would be able to finish off its race better than it did at its previous start.
Mr Lui was of the opinion that the improvement in performance was primarily due to the horse receiving a more favourable run than it did at its previous start.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 31 March 2021 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of THE ABRAXAS, ALL FOR ST PAUL'S, ELITE PATCH, GALLANT LEGACY, JADE PHOENIX, FAIRY FLOSS, DRAGON COMMANDER, LADY FIRST, HANG'S DECISION, EL VALIENTE, HAPPY TANGO, SEVEN HEAVENS, SUPER ALLIANCES, MAGIC SUPREME, GOLD COMET, SUNSET WATCH, ELUSIVE STATE and PRECIOUSSHIP revealed no apparent abnormality.

Private Rocket just held off favourite Kasi Farasi after rolling to the lead 200m out following a well-executed run racing box-seat from a wide draw. He had been knocking on the door and was spot on following a nice trial win in Conghua. Favourite Kasi Farasi closed well from behind midfield to make it very close on the wire. The booking of Joao Moreira nearly worked the oracle after waking up with a better performance last start. Perfect To Great rallied well to finish a distant third after straightening towards the rear. It was a good effort first run. Winning For All ran on steadily to fill a first four spot after a deep run with cover behind midfield. It was a better effort on his past few but he's likely on his mark. Piano Solo came from last near the inside to earn a minor cheque. It was his best effort from five runs following a return to Sha Tin and he may be crying out for a longer trip. Smart Folks kept on reasonably well after a wide run without cover better than midfield. He's shown a bit more spark in his past two of 10 starts.
