Mission
Neurodiversity Allies (NDA) is a Rush student organization that seeks to create opportunities for future healthcare providers of all disciplines to be allies when caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We achieve this through education, community partnerships, and service experiences for students to collaborate with and amplify the voices of those part of and closely associated with the neurodiverse population. NDA provides avenues for all future healthcare professionals to develop and practice communication, interpersonal, and awareness skills that are crucial in providing quality care for neurodiverse patients. Opportunities include visitations at the Rush Hospital to interact with individuals with developmental disabilities and focus on making their hospital stay more comfortable. Volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time working with community organizations and initiatives that prioritize the allyship, expression, and empowerment of the neurodiverse community. Contact Sarah Kee ([email protected]) or Ekene Uwanaka ([email protected]) if you would like to know more about NDA!
