Random Couple Gate Crash Wedding, Bride and Groom Stunned by Gift They Give

A pair of wedding crashers who left an unusual gift in their wake have sparked conversation online.

Ben Carroll shared that his sister, who recently married in Virginia, received a card and $11.54 from two uninvited guests who showed up at the wedding.

"I noticed the crashers at the time only because they were being thrown out. As I saw them being escorted from the bar to the door, I realized that I didn't recognize them. Nobody had any conversations with them that I know of at the wedding," Carroll told Newsweek.

The couple had been speaking to other guests at the hotel earlier in the day, asking questions about the wedding, but nobody expected them to arrive at the event.

Two days after the wedding, the bride and groom discovered the card with the money inside. "When they saw the card and money yesterday, they instantly knew who it was," Carroll said. "They sent the photo that I eventually posted to our combined (bride and groom side) group chat. After some disbelief and extra confirmation there's no David or Nancy, the whole (newly joined) family was beside themselves with laughter."

Carroll shared the unusual moment on Reddit's r/mildlyinteresting, where it gained more than 33,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

One commenter, Haskap_2010, said: "I wonder if they go around to weddings all over the place, slipping into receptions."

While Historical_Animal_17 joked: "Dinner for two for less than $12. Not bad. They scored, but I give them credit for leaving something."

Others praised the crashers themselves, like Strangedrow who said: "Random guests show up, AND they brought a card? Not gonna lie, this is one of the more wholesome wedding crasher stories I've read! Hope that nutty couple is well wherever they are!"

One Reddit user even shared their own experience of crashing weddings. User Rancid_Tuna said: "My husband and I used to do this but only at weddings we were invited to. In addition to our gift, we'd drop another card, write a lovely message and add a random amount of money from a fictional aunt and uncle. Drove our friends crazy until they figured it out after a few years. Still makes us all laugh."

Thankfully, despite the unexpected guests, the bride found the situation more amusing than upsetting.

"My sister was not upset at all! By the time she heard about the crashers, they'd already been removed, and she was laughing at the situation... mostly amused that she was throwing a wedding worth crashing," Carroll said.
