Princess Kate Begins Return to Public Life

Princess Kate will attend King Charles III's birthday parade alongside her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Princess of Wales is expected to join a carriage procession with her three kids and then appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony, though all plans are subject to how she feels on the day.

The move represents her first public appearance since Christmas Day after abdominal surgery in January and a later cancer diagnosis saw take six months off work.

Kate released a statement announcing her decision as she opened up about just how hard she has found chemotherapy: "My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.

"On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

"I'm looking forward to attending The King's Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

"I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal."

While this is not a full return to work, Kate may attend other public engagements over the summer depending on how well she is feeling.

She has already been doing some work at home in Windsor, where she will continue to meet with her team as she gradually eases back into the swing of royal life.

"I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days," Kate's message read.

"On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."

The news will come as a relief to fans after Kate missed almost the whole first half of the year and as speculation in both the mainstream media and on social media about her absence was beginning to peak again.

A major trend for asking, "Where is Kate Middleton?" took the internet by storm in February and March.

Kate was bounced into announcing her cancer diagnosis on March 22 when she appealed for space and privacy to recover.
