Kitten Who Is 'Most Gentle' Uncle to Six Newborn Puppies Melts Hearts

A viral video showing a 7-month-old kitten caring for his canine sibling's six little puppies has melted hearts on social media.

In the clip shared on TikTok earlier in June by @maplemoo1, the white and orange kitten called Marmalade can be seen helping his sister Maple take care of her puppies, playing with them and grooming their fur.

A caption shared alongside the post explains: "Just a 7-month kitten being the most patient & gentle uncle he could be to 6 puppies."

The video quickly went viral on TikTok and has received over 10 million views and 2 million likes on the platform so far.

One user, tip, commented: "I also have a cat that watched my dog give birth, he was also the best uncle but he used to bully them sometimes bcs he wanted them to learn to walk and play with him."

TikToker Laur said, "Those are his babies too!!! their matching fur colors makes it even more cute!!!"

Pswiiwiiswii commented: "My orange/white cat, Uncle PJ also does this with every kittens I rescued. May he be happy chasing butterflies (his fav hobby every morning) in heaven now."

Cats and dogs can live together without any issues as long as their first introduction is done the right way. Newsweek previously explained that taking things slowly will help to avoid bad first impressions.

They will each need their own space in the house where they can stay away from each other. It is also important not to let them interact without supervision until they're comfortable enough. If you notice defensive behaviors, such as hissing or growling, it means you need to take a step back and give them more time.

While all dogs have the potential to live peacefully with cats, some are more likely to get along. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), dogs that are more suited for living with cats include basset hounds, bulldogs, beagles, border collies, golden retrievers, and Labradors, among others.

On the other hand, because of their hunting nature, dogs like terriers and hounds may not be the best match for your cat.

"Keep in mind that these are generalizations. Most dog breeds can live calmly with a cat if they are socialized as puppies and are trained to leave the cat alone. Teaching your dog a 'leave it' cue and a strong 'stay' can help keep the peace," the AKC said.

Newsweek reached out to @maplemoo1 for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.
