Dog Demanding All the Attention on Sister's 16th Birthday Delights Internet

A dog named Khia has left the internet in stitches after her owner shared video evidence of her trying to steal her sister's thunder on her sweet 16.

In a viral post shared on TikTok on Tuesday, under the username khiatheakitamix, the 3-year-old Akita mix can be seen trying to steal her owner's attention from her sister, who is celebrating her 16th birthday.

A caption shared with the clip reads: "POV: it's your older sister's birthday but you're the baby!!" Followed by: "Juno's sweet 16!!!!"

The poster, Evelyn from California, told Newsweek that they were celebrating their other dog, a husky named Juno, who had just turned 16, and got her a doggy cake to mark the occasion.

"I got [Juno] when she was just a puppy when I was in college, and she's been my baby ever since. [I got Khia with my partner, Ron] when she was a puppy as well.

"She is an absolute goofball, stronger than she realizes, and full of energy [she never stops wanting to play]. She is the most cuddly, loving girl who just wants to be loved by everyone and at the center of attention."

Juno has a completely opposite personality, according to the poster, who describes her as brilliant, stubborn and a little bit dramatic: "In true husky fashion, she likes her space, is incredibly independent, and doesn't like to be smothered. She's more like a cat, honestly."

While it took the two pups a while to love each other, they now spend all of their time playing together.

"Now they're pretty inseparable, especially as Juno has begun to lose her sight and hearing and really relies on Khia. and Khia has always and still wants nothing more than to love on and be loved by Juno."

Innocent attention-seeking behaviors in dogs are normal, but they can quickly escalate to serious problems that can end up hurting your relationship with your dog. But there are ways to deal with the issue.

According to the American Kennel Club, the first thing you can do is change your response to their demands for attention, and your dog's behavior will initially get worse before it gets better.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received more than 1,874 views and 164 likes on the platform.

"Yes of course little sister got some cake!!!" the poster commented.
