Football game day adds an exciting new element with the opening of The Rutgers Boardwalk this season. Head over to Scarlet Knight Way before each home game to enjoy several of your favorite food trucks in New Jersey, experience free rides, win prizes, and take in live entertainment. Rutgers fans will have the opportunity to enjoy their favorite elements of Jersey boardwalks right here in Piscataway.
The Rutgers Boardwalk opens four hours before kickoff, which will be noon for the Sept. 10 home opener versus Wagner (Back to The Birthplace Game). Stay tuned for a postgame fireworks show.
Kids can visit the balloon artist, photo booth, get an airbrush tattoo, and play various games. The cannon crew, the Scarlet Knight, and his horse “Excalibur,” plus Sir Henry, will be among those in attendance on the boardwalk. In addition, the Miller Lite Beer Garden for 21+ fans will take place over at Athlete’s Glen across from SHI Stadium. All game day giveaways, including the buttons and posters, will be handed out along The Rutgers Boardwalk.
The excitement builds towards the parade and pep rally three hours before the game, including the Marching Scarlet Knights, spirit squads, and other special groups and guests. This all leads into team arrival and the Scarlet Walk.

Fans who park in the Jersey Mike's Arena lots can take the free campus buses over to SHI Stadium. The new drop-off area will be at Lot 53A, allowing fans to walk through The Rutgers Boardwalk on the way to the stadium. The ADA buses will continue to deliver to and from the stadium as in the past. In addition, the Knightingale courtesy shuttle remains in operation, while buses from College Ave will continue running to Johnson Park. All buses run three hours prior to kickoff and return up to one hour following the conclusion of the game.

Experience the thrill of intercollegiate athletics at its highest level by catching an exciting home game at Rutgers University. The Scarlet Knights are a member of the prestigious Big Ten Conference. Nearly 1,000 Scarlet Knight student-athletes compete in 24 athletic programs against some of the best schools in the country.
Rutgers is known as the birthplace of college football and SHI Stadium is a short, free shuttle ride away from City Center. Meet in New Brunswick City Center to celebrate before or after the game with great spots for dining or fun bars and taverns where you can cheer on the home team. The Rutgers Athletic Center, or "The RAC" as it is affectionately called, is home to the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as hosting wrestling, gymnastics, and various events. Opened in 1977, the RAC is one of the top arenas in the nation to watch college basketball. This 8,000 seat arena has been dubbed, “louder than a 757 from nearby Newark” making it one of the toughest college basketball arenas in the country for opponents. Academics and athletics are a winning combination at Rutgers University. 114 student-athletes were named to the 2022 Fall academic All-Big Ten listing. Honorees are members of a varsity team and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Leading the list of this year’s Rutgers standouts are Rani Abdulaziz (football) and Aidan Flynn (men's soccer) – both with 4.0 GPAs. Hamza Barkouch (men's cross country), Parker Day (football), Adam Korsak (football), Meagan McClelland (women's soccer) and Reggie Sutton (football) are all four time recipients.
