SpongeBob: Bubble Pop F.U.N. Mobile Game Players' Guide - Netflix Tudum
- Poppin’ makes us feel good.By Timothy J. SeppalaSept. 16, 2024
Popping bubbles under the sea is a ton of fun, sure, but there’s a bit more to SpongeBob: Bubble Pop F.U.N. than meets the eye. You’ll need to know a thing or two about geometry and physics, too. Don’t fret: If you’ve ever banked a shot while playing billiards, that should be enough skill to suffice.
Some strategic time management will help when you’re staring down 12 un-popped bubbles with only a few turns left. This might sound like a lot, but with this handy game guide you’ll be bursting blobs like the infamous Bubble Poppin’ Boys in no time.
How do I rack up combos in SpongeBob: Bubble Pop F.U.N.?
When you’ve got a limited number of turns and an awful lot of bubbles to pop, taking each bubble out one by one simply won’t cut it. You’ll have to take out multiples at once if you want to actually progress through each level.
And you’ll do that by nailing combo shots that take out not just the colored balloons you’re aiming for, but those around and below your actual target. Nothing beats the satisfaction of bouncing a red bubble off the side wall into a cluster of like-colored bubbles — thus inducing a Technicolor explosion in the surrounding area while the trio of snails you just freed mews in delight.
There are a few different buffs that make blasting away bubbles easier too. As you clear a level, successful pops will fill your Imagination Meter. Top off the rainbow bubble in the lower left corner of your screen, and you’ll unlock a special attack: The elephant bubble clears huge clusters, while SpongeBob’s Krusty Krab Spatula acts like a homing missile.
As you progress, subsequent levels will be littered with other ways to rack up big combos. Squid (not Squidward) will clear rows of bubbles when hit, initiating all kinds of pops in their wake. And as you move on further, you’ll reach the bombs, which explode like firecrackers and take out all nearby bubbles.
Why are the costumes important in SpongeBob: Bubble Pop F.U.N.?
As you play, you’ll unlock new costumes for SpongeBob. These aren’t just cosmetic — each one offers unique bubble-popping advantages. Level them up to maximize their power. Here’s a breakdown:
- Classic: Unlocks the aforementioned elephant bubble attack that takes out clusters of bubbles at a time. Leveled-up versions increase the blast radius and the speed at which the Imagination Meter fills.
- Krusty Krab: Your Krusty Krab Spatula quickly pops a column of bubbles all in one go. Keep upgrading it, and you’ll earn extra coins and fill the Imagination Meter faster.
- Karate: Don this adorable red headgear and set of mitts to karate-chop bubbles in a V-shaped pattern. Level it up to start with a partially filled Imagination Meter and earn extra coins.
- Mermaid Man: SpongeBob’s costume for his crime-fighting alter ego summons jellyfish to a random spot on the board. As you level this outfit up, you’ll start with a partially filled Imagination Meter and it’ll begin to fill faster.
- Marching Band: There’s no standing in place marking time in Bikini Bottom! Put on this costume, and you’ll recolor a radius of bubbles and then pop ’em. Upgrade this uniform, and you’ll earn extra coins and fill your Imagination Meter faster.
- Jellyfishing: Big black glasses are perennially cool, and in SpongeBob: Super Bubble F.U.N., they’re fashion with function. In your shades and with your trusty fishing net, you’ll dole out horizontal electric attacks. Upgrading this costume will increase your attack radius, and it’ll allow you to start with a partially filled Imagination Meter.
- Hall Monitor: Have you ever seen a sponge sneer? Equip this purple hat and shell to track down and burst all visible bubbles of the same color. As you level this costume up, you’ll start each round with a partially filled Imagination Meter and fill it faster.
- Wizard: Yer a wizard, Spongey! Every time you pull this rock ’n’ roll getup out of the closet, not only will you be wearing a peanut-patterned aubergine cloak, pants, and pointy hat, but your guitar will shoot out electric bubble-popping clusters. Upgrades include starting with a partially filled Imagination Meter, a faster fill speed for said meter, and extra coins earned.
- Robot: This metal version of our porous yellow hero sucks up bubbles and turns them into oil for extra moves. As you dump upgrades into this costume, you’ll convert more bubbles per use and start with a partially filled Imagination Meter.
- Anchor Arms: When you absolutely, positively gotta burst as many bubbles as you can in a single move, accept no substitutes. These pink tattooed arms are the ultimate prize in SpongeBob Bubble Pop: F.U.N. and come with a powerful attack: a smash that demolishes random bubbles in a given area. Keep leveling it up to increase the area of effect, earn extra coins, and fill the Imagination Meter faster.
