Getting Around LA in Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, the Mobile Game

A tourist’s guide to California’s cutthroat concrete jungle.

After watching all eight seasons of Selling Sunset, you’ve cataloged all the drama. You can tell Jason and Brett Oppenheim apart with complete confidence. All the tea lives rent-free in your head, 24/7.

With Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, you’ll get to experience it all firsthand. Getting around the LA luxury real estate world yourself can be tough without a guide, though. Don’t fret: We’ve pulled together helpful tips for navigating this world of friendships, love, and the finer things.

This article contains major character or plot details.

Love is in the air.

In Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, there’s no shortage of romantic options along your journey to become the most badass real estate broker in Los Angeles. The City of Angels is overflowing with beautiful people, and you’ll run into a handful by the time you make your way to Brett and Jason’s Bel Air listing.

Instead of picking your sexuality preferences while creating your character, in Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, you make your choice from two options as they become available. It’s a more organic way to choose who fits your vibe.

It just so happens that you’ll meet these potential matches all while you’re on the job. Who says you can’t mix business and pleasure?

  • Theo, Tiana: Pro basketball players who are potential buyers for Jason’s introductory Sunset condo. Perfect for your first client, and potential first romance.
  • Milo, Mila: Brunette pop stars on the prowl for love and swanky new digs. Maybe Jason’s Sunset condo is where they’ll call home.
  • Cam, Ben: Turns out single parents Cam and Ben are from your hometown. Their humble beginnings have given way to a successful career as a real estate developer.
  • Eric, Naomi: If you can hold out until Chapter 12, you’ll meet Eric and Naomi. They’re a couple of fast-living billionaire baddies who swing through to help with an event venue.

Mapping your journey.

Los Angeles’ sprawl covers over 500 square miles — be lucky you aren’t pounding all that pavement for leads. Instead, you’ll work your way through the more affluent sections of town, each one a bit more glamorous and star-studded than the last. With every new neighborhood you unlock, you’ll open up matching wardrobe options too. Wearing something from The Valley to Beverly Hills? As if!

  • The Valley: Home of Valley girls and The Karate Kid, the San Fernando Valley’s housing stock sits at a median price of around $1 million. If you look hard enough, you just might spot someone practicing their crane kick off in the distance.
  • Hollywood Hills: Those big white letters aren’t the only landmarks in Hollywood. Homes in The Hills command a median price double that of The Valley. It’s here that you’ll work with a group of influencers looking to rent a chic space.
  • Malibu: This celebrity-spotting haven is known for its world-famous beaches and top-rated schools, and is roughly an hour from downtown LA. Median home price here? $5.7 million. Just think of the commissions.
  • Beverly Hills: 90210 is the most prestigious ZIP code in the country. Try to not spend too much time on Rodeo Drive between showings.
  • Bel Air: This is it, what you’ve been working toward for so long. Once you hit your final sale here, you’ll finally have enough to make your own home ownership dream come true.

Treat yourself.

Speaking of rewards, a multimillion dollar LA bachelorette pad isn’t the only bauble you’ll be working toward. As you make your way to becoming the biggest broker in Tinseltown, you’ll earn little pieces of luxury as you hit certain milestones. Your first commission from a $3 million modern farmhouse, for example? It’s enough to net you a luxury handbag or lavish wristwatch.

Keep on keeping on and you’ll have enough commissions to score a new whip. Showing up to an $8 million listing in a sub-compact will raise eyebrows with the types of clients The Oppenheim Group caters to. So you better hit the dealership. Here you’ve got three choices: A luxury sports SUV, a boxy European off-roader, or a ground-hugging bright orange Italian supercar. Just remember: You’ve gotta be able to afford the insurance too.

The ultimate goal, though, is home ownership. And not just any four walls, anywhere, but a multimillion dollar bungalow nestled in the Hollywood Hills. You’re using the money earned from your commissions, and everyone’s bank accounts look different, so there are options at three different price points. Even if you told a client to come in low on their bid (it happens to all of us) back in Chapter 3, it won’t come back to haunt you.

Look familiar? Eagle-eyed Selling Sunset fans might see similarities between this abode and Chrishell’s first house on the show.

Here to help.

Keeping track of everyone’s opinion, what each client is looking for, and how to deal with them is tough in real life. Thankfully, Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset has a few features to help you keep everything straight while you moonlight as the next biggest real estate broker in Hollywood.

  • Client cards: Every client is different, and they all have specific needs for their living spaces. Each card has details about the client so you can tailor your choices to their personalities.
  • Pop-ups: The trick to negotiating is finding a resolution where no one feels shortchanged. In Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, it’s a little easier than IRL because you’ll get handy notifications — positive and negative — as offers and counteroffers fly back and forth. Godspeed.
  • Persuasion meter: Like in other Netflix Stories games, how you interact with cast mates and love interests is represented by a meter that gradually fills up the more you talk to them. Keep taking initiative (and the highroad) when things get tough at the office and people will notice. Get a little too aggressive and your meters will empty.

Choose your BFF.

Early on in Netflix Stories: Selling Sunset, you’ll get to pick who you want as your BFF. In this case, that means having someone who’s always in your corner and will give you advice to help guide you through the cutthroat world of LA real estate. You’ve got two options: Chrishell and Chelsea. Can’t pick? You can always try a second playthrough.
