Pre-Draft Outlook
The Celtics were one of the best regular-season teams in NBA history, ranking in the top two on both ends of the floor and outscoring opponents by 11.7 points per 100 possessions. They were similarly dominant through the first two rounds of the playoffs, looking for the franchise’s first championship since 2008.
The Way To Go
The Celtics’ two picks are unlikely to yield a player who can help them win a championship in the next few years. That said, center DaRon Holmes II from Dayton could be a way to go as the 6-foot-10 center has some shooting range and skill Boston could mold. Aside from that, Boston’s most important piece of business this summer will be signing Jayson Tatum to a contract extension, likely for five years and more than $300 million.
