It was truly inspiring to witness the impressive growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, along with the valuable insights shared by GCC leaders at the recent "Economic Times GCC 2024 Annual Conclave" in Bengaluru. Equally noteworthy was the discussion on how GCCs have evolved from being primarily focused on cost arbitrage to becoming centers of knowledge and, ultimately, innovation capital for the future. GCCs were recognized as "Game-Changing Catalysts" for India, highlighting both their significant contributions to the country and the pivotal role they will play in shaping India’s future. I had the privilege of participating in a boardroom roundtable discussion hosted by Kyndryl on "Developing a Global Innovation Ecosystem," where I shared my insights on several key topics: 1. Tackling the challenges of evolving into a global innovation hub. 2. Strategically identifying and nurturing partnerships within Global Capability Centers (GCCs). 3. Legacy companies are stepping up to the challenge of rapid technological change, realizing the importance of a strong, centralized tech strategy and skilled talent. In a significant trend, along with foreign firms, major Indian corporations are establishing Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India to bolster their tech capabilities. Over the past few years, it's estimated that around 50 GCCs have been launched by Indian firms across various sectors, including telecom, financial services, and automotive.
