Not sure how I missed this gem in Stat from May. If you spend time analyzing provider schedules this will ring so true. "A McKinsey report found that roughly 20% of a providers’ time goes to waste due to last-minute cancellations and reschedules. This is a lose-lose: The care organization is wasting their most valuable asset — a provider’s time — while patients are waiting weeks for a visit as precious appointments go to waste. Making this hidden supply of care available to patients who are eager to be treated is one of the biggest opportunities to bend the wait time curve." And also appreciate how APPs are featured as a critical part of the solutioning! https://lnkd.in/gRAPz3S6

I have been working at Fusion Dental for about 3 months now. Getting used to the 9-5 mindset is something else and makes you appreciate the things you can get done during the day and during your lunch break. This post is about redundancy and security. Part of being IT for several dental offices you see a lot of the same issue and programs. It does come in handy for knowing quick fixes and can be repetitive for sure. But this past few days Optum, with ChangeHealthCare has been down. This has been affecting e-claims, e-statements, e-prescriptions, e-attach, and more. They had sense said that they had a Cyber Problem and shut everything down. Smart move for sure but offices that have been using this program can not send anything that used those services. This made me think about the important of having a redundancy plan. While it may not be the main thing that you use everyday it is good to know a Plan B. Having a different service or even having to switch to paper, to be able to flip to that without a missing a beat is what everyone needs to have. Ask yourself this; When that AT&T outage happened last week, even if you were not affected by it, What is your plan for communication if all cell phone service went down? https://lnkd.in/d4mNseFU

Lessons Learned from the Crowdstrike Outage Today's Crowdstrike update that caused widespread outages highlights the critical role of testing and communication in software deployments. REF: https://lnkd.in/ec6uVJHQ Here are my key takeaways: 🛡 TESTING Rigorous testing in a controlled environment can help identify and fix bugs before they impact production systems. - Something that looks to have fallen short in this instance 📅 CHANGE MANAGEMENT Deploying major updates on a Friday afternoon (Australia) can exacerbate the impact of unforeseen issues. 📩 TIMING Clear communication with stakeholders throughout the update process is essential to minimize disruption and ensure a smooth rollout. Even with the best planning, unexpected issues can arise. Having a rollback plan in place is crucial for a swift recovery. #Outage #Crowdstrike #ITOperations #ITStrategy #ChangeManagement #TechUpdates #SystemTesting

Practicode Strategy #13- Modifier 25 (I saw this one A LOT) According to CPT guidelines (defined as one with a 0-day or 10-day global period), use Modifier 25 if * the physician perform and document the level of medical decision making or total time necessary to report a problem-oriented office or other outpatient E/M service for the complaint or problem? * the work to address the complaint or problem stand alone as a reportable service * the physician perform extra work that went above and beyond the typical pre- or postoperative work associated with the procedure code? Here is the plain and simple on Modifier 25. Modifier 25 is used when a minor procedure is performed during an encounter that has an E/M Component. Here are the questions I asked to guide me. 1. Was there an E/M encounter? -yes or no 2. Was there a minor procedure performed? Yes or no 3. Was the E/M encounter and minor procedure done on the same day by the same physician during the SAME encounter? yes or no 4. If the answer is yes to the questions above, append Modifier 25 to the E/M code . Here are some minor procedures I was given and Modifier 25 was needed. -injections -EKG/ECG -X Rays -Cath/Urinalysis -Pacemaker Interrogation -Treatment of warts -fingernail removed due to a crushed finger Applying understanding I have to understand the "why" to modifiers so my brain can tuck it away in the correct file. So here is the "why". An E/M component is automatically embedded in a minor procedure because the physician has to address the need, risk, and patient's overall health before performing the minor procedure. We use modifier 25 so the physician gets PAID FOR BOTH the E/M and the procedure. Disclaimer- Please research and cross reference all codes and modifiers. Each case is different and unique. *****QUESTION FOR SEASONED CODERS****** There is one case where a new patient saw a Cardiologist and had an EKG performed, labs drawn, and was monitored and Modifier 25 was not appended for the EKG. Is it because it was done by a Cardiologist and the EKG wasn't considered going above and beyond scope of service?

Great read on how staff engagement can improve outcomes!
By showing staff their data, and letting them explore how to make improvement, an improvement effort "found the solutions we had been talking about for years, but no one had implemented because no one was owning them [before].” https://lnkd.in/es7f88Ky

That Feeling When the Antiarrhythmic Kicks In… There’s nothing quite like the relief when the antiarrhythmic finally kicks in, and the heart returns to a normal rhythm. This moment signifies more than just restored sync; it’s the transformation of chaos into harmony, ensuring the heart beats strong and steady. Navigating Medical Records with Antiarrhythmic Therapies? Confused by Arrhythmia Details? As a Legal Nurse Consultant, I bring specialized expertise to bridge the gap between medical and legal issues. My thorough analysis of medical records ensures you have the detailed insights you need to know. Because knowledge is power: An antiarrhythmic is a medication used to treat and prevent irregular heartbeats, known as arrhythmias. Arrhythmias can cause the heart to beat too fast, too slow, or irregularly, leading to various health issues like heart palpitations, dizziness, fainting, and even severe complications such as stroke or heart failure. Antiarrhythmics work by affecting the electrical impulses in the heart, helping to restore and maintain a normal rhythm. These drugs operate through different mechanisms to correct or control heart rhythm abnormalities according to where they act on the cardiac potential cycle. Need assistance unraveling the complexities of arrhythmias? I’m standing by! #LegalNurseConsultant #AttorneySupport #MedicalRecordsReview #Antiarrhythmic #Arrhythmia #MedicalRecords #Cardiology #LegalNurse #Cardiology #NurseExpertise #IrregularHeartRhythm
