Architecting teams, process and technology for fast flow of value, humane ways of working. Sooner Safer Happier Advocate, Team Topologies Advocate, VSMC Ambassador and nudger of systems 🤓
I just finished an interesting conversation with John Selberg on organisations funding and investing in their own capabilities for AI and what it could mean for their people, their product and service offerings. It isn't a case of AI is perfect and can do all the things, it is a case of it moving fast, getting a firsthand look at what can be done will help you navigate fact from fiction. There is a lot of hype, and it is hard to find the signal in the noise especially with all the marketing. How are you thinking about your organisation and people comfortable with this technology and what it can do? A colleague of mine Eugene Chung published a transcript of a recent talk he did at Team24 on how AI bots can fit into a team context which is a strange and exciting area to explore. https://lnkd.in/enAbgvYn #ai #hype #opportunity #capabilities In writing this post I see LinkedIn is even suggesting to rewrite this with AI... 🤦♂️

A nice writeup in Forbes Magazine about our work on Colaj and collective, participatory AI at Sosolimited. The deeper I get into this work, the more my conviction grows that we can use AI to spark, support, and strengthen human-to-human interactions. The real magic and innovation still happens when people come together to create, solve problems, and above all, to connect with each other and themselves. Thanks John Werner for the great writeup and for seeing the potential for AI to support human collaboration in new ways. https://lnkd.in/eMNCzReu

🚀 The Reality of Human + AI: Does Teaming Up Actually Work? 🤖✨ Check out the article here: (https://lnkd.in/gXhG57xU) Thomas Malone https://lnkd.in/g9RsjnV7 As AI becomes more embedded in our work, many assume that pairing it with human intelligence is a no-brainer. But a new meta-analysis in Nature Human Behaviour, covering 106 studies, reveals that human-AI teams aren’t always the winning combo we expect. Here’s what the research found about when human-AI partnerships actually work best. 👇 1️⃣ Human-AI Teams Often Underperform Compared to AI Alone 😮 Contrary to expectations, combining human intelligence with AI frequently underperformed compared to either humans or AI working independently. Why? People often either over-rely on AI (treating its input as foolproof) or under-rely on it (ignoring its suggestions due to distrust). This delicate balance of trust is key to success and requires careful attention to process design. 🔍 2️⃣ Creative Tasks Are Where Human + AI Shine 🎨🖌️ Not all tasks are created equal when it comes to AI collaboration. For creative and open-ended tasks, such as writing, brainstorming, or design, human-AI synergy often yielded performance gains! AI’s ability to quickly generate routine elements complements human creativity and intuition. Tools like Midjourney for image generation or ChatGPT for drafting content show how humans and AI can team up effectively for creative projects. 🖼️✨ On the flip side, decision-making tasks saw less success. Here, a common pitfall is misjudging when to trust AI output, leading to either unnecessary reliance or missed insights. 3️⃣ When Humans Outperform AI, Collaboration Pays Off – But Not the Other Way Around 🔄 The research found that when humans initially outperformed AI at a given task, adding AI input could help boost results. In these cases, people effectively used AI as a complementary tool. However, when AI was the stronger performer, adding human input tended to lower overall performance, as humans struggled to judge when to trust their own insights versus the AI’s. This suggests that defining roles clearly is crucial for maximizing human-AI synergy. 💼🤖 4️⃣ Structuring Trust and Workflow is Key to Success 🔑 Assign AI to tasks where it’s best suited: Let AI handle repetitive or data-heavy tasks while humans focus on interpretation and decision-making. 🕵️♀️ Set clear roles in decision-making: Establish processes where humans know when and how to rely on AI, which is critical to avoiding both overreliance and underreliance. Leverage AI for creative brainstorming: AI is an ideal partner for idea generation or open-ended creation, where it can provide a starting point for human refinement. 🎨 🌟 Takeaway: Thoughtful Design is Key for Human-AI Success! 🌟 With thoughtful design, we can unlock the true potential of human-AI partnerships. Duri Chitayat agrees, Ai isn’t about to replace us anytime soon. All early market feedback suggests Safeguard Global’s Ai investment is landing in that all important leader quadrant. WHY? Because it’s built for the customer, not for us. Compliance, speed, and accuracy of information are the key fundamentals behind ChatSG enabling our customers to be better prepared to support their employees across an ever changing world. https://lnkd.in/ePXS3Fq6
Our CTO, Duri Chitayat, shares in My TechDecisions how leaders can harness the unique capabilities of humans and machines and create human-centric cultures where #AI amplifies employee capabilities. "To address the elephant in the room, no AI won’t replace human knowledge workers. But, equally as important, company leaders must hire talent and upskill workforces now to better leverage AI."

AI isn't replacing human innovation – it's supercharging it. 💡 A recent study reveals how generative AI is revolutionizing the innovation process, particularly in design sprints. Here are the key insights: 1. AI enhances both divergent and convergent thinking, helping teams explore more possibilities and synthesize ideas effectively. 2. It acts as a mental "heavy lifter," reducing cognitive strain and allowing teams to focus on critical evaluation and decision-making. 3. Human judgment remains crucial. Teams must validate AI outputs, add contextual nuances, and make final decisions based on their expertise. 4. The sweet spot lies in human-AI collaboration. AI handles information-intensive tasks, while humans drive strategic thinking and maintain project ownership. 5. Overreliance on AI risks reducing team engagement and overlooking crucial human insights. Balance is key. As we navigate this AI-powered innovation landscape, remember: the goal isn't to replace human creativity, but to amplify it. How are you integrating AI into your innovation processes? #AIInnovation #HumanAICollaboration #FutureOfWork #DesignThinking #TechTrends What's your experience with AI in innovation?
