The Maschhoffs, headquartered in Carlyle, Ill., is the largest family-owned pork production network in North America. The company is owned by 5th generation family farmers Dave & Karen Maschhoff and Ken & Julie Maschhoff. They partner with a network of more than 300 family farmers across the Midwest. These family farmers, known as our Production Partners, work with us to collectively produce enough pork to feed 15 million consumers annually.     The Maschhoffs 2nd Annual Targeted Development Program is a one-year program for a select group of individuals. The purpose is to increase awareness of self-development opportunities, build individualized plans to drive development, shape network of professional mentors, improve leadership competencies, and increase perspective outside Swine Industry. The individuals participated in a session quarterly consisting of both interactive classroom and fieldtrip components. They are surrounded by a support network comprised of various facilitators, mentors, peer groups, and participants’ leaders. By actively investing in the growth and advancement of talented individuals, we aim to create a supportive environment that recognizes and rewards their contributions. This program not only demonstrates our commitment to their personal and professional development but also underscores our dedication to our employees’ long-term success within the company. April has been married to her high school sweetheart for 25 years. They have a 12-year-old son and three dogs: Beau, Sam, and Moose. April enjoys running, cycling, swimming, and spending time outdoors with her family, whether it's hiking, playing baseball, or relaxing by the pool. She has completed 10 full marathons and is excited to run her 11th this Fall. April has been with The Maschhoffs for nearly 9 years, starting as the Associate Director of HRIS before being promoted to Director of HR in 2017 and then to Director of IT in 2021. April is particularly proud of her promotion to lead the IT department. She finds it empowering, motivating, and humbling that the company and its leaders have confidence in her ability to transition from HR to IT. The organization has continued to support her through its leadership development training program, providing the tools and resources necessary for her success. "Through this program, I have found my voice and feel heard, seen, and appreciated. This pushes me to fulfill my potential as an employee and leader at The Maschhoffs. For this, I am very grateful," reflects April. April advises taking chances and embracing opportunities. "The company took a chance on me, giving me the opportunity of my career to move into the IT space and lead a team of incredibly talented IT professionals." She encourages discussing career goals with leaders across the company and taking advantage of the open-door policy. The Maschhoffs is fortunate to have tenured leadership invested in the success of employees both professionally and personally. The culture of caring at The Maschhoffs fosters a safe environment for growth and development. "I feel empowered to lead the IT department, knowing I have the support of leadership and my peers." By building a culture of trust, employees can engage in constructive feedback and feel safe asking for help.
