My experience with burnout as a fitness professional went beyond feeling tired. Behind the scenes, I felt empty, drained, and disconnected from the passion that brought me to the fitness industry. As instructors and coaches, we often prioritize everyone else’s well-being over our own, and it eventually caught up to me. Recently, I faced my own battle with burnout, amplified by personal loss and the pressure to keep performing. It’s not just about pushing through; it’s about recognizing when we need to step back and take care of ourselves. Being vulnerable and open about my mental health in a professional setting is admittedly terrifying and outside of my comfort zone, but I wanted to share my personal experience with burnout and offer some strategies that have helped me find my footing again. From setting boundaries to prioritizing mental health, these are small but essential steps that have made a big difference. Whether you’re an instructor, coach, or just someone feeling the weight of always being “on,” I hope you find these tips helpful. Remember: taking care of yourself is not a luxury; it's an essential part of the job for longevity!
