The situation at Al-Awda Hospital in Northern #Gaza grows even more critical for civilians, as the siege around the hospital continues. With no new supplies arriving, staff have treated over 30 injuries, supported several emergency births, and performed 7 critical surgeries—all within the last 24 hours while their final reserves of fuel slowly run out. The hospital team remains dedicated, but their resources are nearly exhausted. We continue to call on all parties for an immediate and permanent #CeasefireNOW: to protect all civilians, health workers, and health facilities; to provide safe, unimpeded, and sustained humanitarian access; and to respect international humanitarian law. This living nightmare must end.

📢 “Northern Gaza, which is one-fourth of Gaza’s territory, has been under siege for 23 days. The nearly 400,000 residents who had remained there after a year of war face inhumane conditions as food, water and medicines have run out and aid is not reaching them. More than 800 people have been killed in three weeks.” In this opinion piece for Al Jazeera English, Craig Redmond, Relief International's CEO, describes the dire state of the situation in #Gaza. "Humanity must not turn away. This is a call to all parties in this conflict: protect healthcare workers and civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and halt hostilities near health facilities. This is also a call to third states to uphold international humanitarian law and demand its enforcement in Gaza." #CeasefireNow #AllEyesOnNorthernGaza

Earlier today, Relief International CEO Craig Redmond spoke with Sky News about the crisis in #Gaza. Northern Gaza's last partially functioning hospitals are being targeted, gravely damaging buildings and equipment, and putting the lives of patients and staff in danger. Al-Awda's hospital in Jabalia, which Relief International is supporting, may be forced to cease operations. The facility has been encircled by armed forces for the past 3 days, meaning no civilians, staff, nor supplies can get in or out. “We call on all parties for an immediate and permanent ceasefire; to protect all civilians, health workers and health facilities; to provide safe, unimpeded, and sustained humanitarian access, and to respect international humanitarian law." "This living nightmare must end.” – Craig Redmond.

“The horror that is taking place in #gaza must stop. We cannot stress this enough. We demand an urgent end to the targeting of civilians and healthcare infrastructure. “Al-Awda staff have shown incredible dedication, choosing to stay to help members of their communities in critical need.  Since the offensive in Northern Gaza started, they have helped thousands of patients and performed hundreds of surgeries with the hospital crumbling around them.  “It is critical that healthcare and health staff are protected, and that more medical professionals are deployed to help treat the increasing number of civilians with severe injuries.  “We call on all parties for an immediate and permanent ceasefire; to protect all civilians, health workers and health facilities; to provide safe, unimpeded, and sustained humanitarian access, and to respect international humanitarian law. This living nightmare must end.” – Craig Redmond, CEO of Relief International

Since 2016, Gentil Tree Nursery in South Sudan, supported by Relief International, has been making a real impact! Producing 40,000 seedlings every 3 months, the nursery grows trees that provide fuelwood, medicine, shade, and fruit—like guavas, mangoes, and passion fruits—boosting nutrition for communities. By distributing 60,000 trees for free annually, we’re not just greening landscapes, we’re creating sustainable resources and jobs for refugees while fighting deforestation and climate change. 🌍 Together, we’re planting the seeds for a healthier future!

💬 "Without these facilities, we would have had to walk 8 hours through water to reach the nearest clinic." In some of the remote counties in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State, the arrival of the rainy season brings immense challenges. But no matter how high the waters rise, Relief International teams do everything in their power to reach those who need it most. From treating diseases to providing safe deliveries, we are here, even when the path becomes difficult. We remain committed to supporting communities affected by floods in South Sudan, because access to healthcare should never be out of reach. Northern Gaza has been under violent siege for the past 17 days. The situation took yet another disastrous turn on Saturday when the last partially functioning hospitals in the North were attacked. Relief International is supporting Al-Awda's hospital in Jabalia which was targeted on Saturday morning. Kamal Adwan and the Indonesian hospitals in nearby Beit Lahiya were also shelled. At least 120 people were tragically killed and many more injured. Being local, many Al-Awda staff have been displaced multiple times themselves and are deeply traumatized. They are sleeping at the hospital overnight. But they keep going – dedicated to continuing to help their communities. Here Craig Redmond, CEO at Relief International, explains the impact of the attack on Al-Awda staff, patients and people sheltering in the surrounding area. Thank you EU in Emergencies for helping us to continue supporting the critical work of Al Awda hospitals in Gaza. Learn More > https://bit.ly/48hV9SC
