Rainforest Trust wraps up week two at #COP16 in Colombia. #COP16Colombia #Biodiversity

We have another exciting opportunity on our conservation team: Director of Strategy—Latin America. https://lnkd.in/e6XGjSwd. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help lead Rainforest Trust's conservation work in the region.

The Tropical Andes is the most biodiverse region in the world. Spanning Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia; its extensive forests, wetlands, and grasslands regulate the climate, store vast carbon reserves, and shelters species found nowhere else, including jaguars, Andean bears, and condors. Its rivers and glaciers sustain the Amazon basin, a key force in stabilizing the global climate, while supporting the livelihoods of Indigenous and local communities. During COP16, we brought together our partners from across the region to exchange insights, align strategies, and strengthen the collaborations driving this critical work. So far, an additional 4.1 million hectares (an area about the size of Switzerland) have been protected, and efforts are underway to secure another 10 million hectares. With plans to secure land tenure rights across more than 12 million hectares, this work places community-led stewardship at its core. Reaching the 30x30 goal of protecting 30% of land and water by 2030 requires all of us working together. With fresh momentum from this convening, we’re accelerating efforts to safeguard these ecosystems and secure long-term solutions for the people and biodiversity who rely on them. #PazConLaNaturaleza #PeaceWithNature #COP16Colombia #30x30 #30by30

Such a privilege to travel to Cali, Colombia for the #COP16 with the Rainforest Trust Latin America and Caribbean team and Director of Conservation Strategy. Meeting partners in person and sharing this experience with them was a highlight of the week!
