The Business Standards for 21st Century Leadership set out a new way of doing business that values people and our planet just as much as the bottom line. Today, we’re proud to release draft standards 9-14 for public comment alongside our partners FSG and JUST Capital. These standards focus on the impact businesses have on local communities and on society at large, including through corporate sustainability strategies, philanthropy, and civic and political engagement. These standards need your input! Help redefine the way business is done by participating in our public comment period. https://lnkd.in/ggvT9CVv
About us
PolicyLink is a national research and action institute advancing racial and economic equity by Lifting Up What Works®. We seek to deliver and scale results in the following arenas: Equitable Economy: Promote economic inclusion and ownership to eliminate poverty, shrink inequality, and increase mobility. Healthy Communities of Opportunity: Create and maintain opportunity-rich communities in all neighborhoods and all regions of the country through strong networks and social capital, equitable development, and infrastructure investments that enable low-income people and communities of color to thrive. Just Society: Build power and expand agency to ensure that all systems and institutions are just, free of racial bias, and lead to a vibrant democracy where all, especially the most vulnerable, can participate and prosper. We succeed by weaving together four essential functions: Advocacy that advances policy change at all levels of government and across sectors. Applied research and communications that build public and political will for inclusion, justice, and broadly shared prosperity. Constituency and network engagement that empowers leaders to advance equity. Implementation capacity that connects local innovations to policy; and provides stakeholders with needed data and tools. Our work would not be possible without support from a broad array of people, organizations, and communities. Our mission is to advance racial and economic equity by Lifting Up What Works®. Help achieve policies that can ensure equity for all by lending your support. Your contribution makes Lifting Up What Works® possible and enables us to disseminate our findings and provide strategic guidance to coalitions throughout the country. Help create communities of opportunity where everyone can participate and prosper. INVEST IN EQUITY. Donate Now: https://www.policylink.org/invest

Whether we barbecue in our backyard or simmer pozole on our apartment stove, we all want safe, stable and healthy homes where we have the power and freedom to live on our own terms. But, for generations, unfair and color-coded real estate practices have concentrated control of our housing into the hands of corporate interests who treat our neighborhoods like Monopoly boards, buying and selling property to hoard more wealth for themselves. Berkeley residents are putting an end to that - they're balancing the scales of power with a Tenant Opportunity to Purchase policy that will give existing tenants a fair chance to own the places they live. Stand with them on September 30th and urge City Council to uplift healthy, stable housing for long-time Berkeley residents through TOPA! Learn more at yes2topa.org.

As the U.S. housing crisis deepens, the demand for bold action that provides us with safe, stable, community-controlled and truly affordable housing grows ever stronger – a demand for social housing. Housing should enrich our lives, not the pockets of wealthy investors. And now, this vision has made it into the halls of Congress. Come to this webinar to learn about the groundswell of local organizing working to put our homes in the hands of our communities, not corporations, and how you can get involved. This webinar will feature a conversation between social housing residents, organizers, advocates, and researchers on the organizing happening across the country for green social housing and how it can solve our housing crisis. Participants will come away with a clearer understanding of what social housing is, how campaigns are advancing this vision, and how new federal legislation can support this work. I’m incredibly proud to share the latest article I co-authored with PolicyLink's President, Ashleigh Gardere, "Our Journey to a Consciousness of All." This piece reflects on the evolution of PolicyLink. It all started as a radical idea 25 years ago—the idea to advance racial equity through a Black-led policy organization. Since then, the concept of equity has gone from the margins to the mainstream, shaping national policy and discourse. But the work is far from finished. We must call for a renewed commitment to equity and self-determination, reclaiming "all" as the guiding principle of justice and prosperity. We must call for a renewed commitment to equity and accept the task before us to build social, cultural, and governing systems that work in service of human flourishing while manifesting within our souls an abiding love for all. I encourage everyone to read this important piece and join us in our #SoulWork to design a nation where all can thrive.
