From Chicago to Santa Monica, the Bay Area to Huntsville, Alabama, countless Black folks across the country have lost their homes due to racist and illegal practices. Where Is My Land is sharing their stories. “There’s many, many families that suffered this kind of injustice. You can’t do this to an individual, to a community, to a family, and just walk away from it like it didn’t mean anything.” - Connie, The Ebony Beach Club This isn’t just a story about lost wealth. It’s also about what it means to lose your home, your sense of community and the trauma it brings for generations. Black families deserve healing. Where Is My Land is creating pathways to that healing. Visit Where Is My Land to learn how you can get involved.

I'm thrilled to invite you to explore an extraordinary exhibit that is very close to my heart. As one of the founding partners, it means so much to me to see this vision come to life. “The Stories of Us” exhibition features large-scale sculptures created by a diverse collective of local artists. Each piece offers a unique perspective on our shared past, present, and a future reimagined for equity. This exhibit is not just about art – it’s about reimagining a thriving future for all through the lens of creativity and storytelling. These remarkable sculptures are based on the concept by the talented Jomo Tariku, who envisioned drums as the creative foundation. Drums have always been a symbol of storytelling, celebration, and expression across cultures and eras. 📅 Exhibit Dates: Now through July 7 📍 Location: Detroit Don't miss this opportunity to be part of something truly special. Join us in celebrating the power of art and community! #TheStoriesOfUs #DetroitArt #Community #Exhibit #ArtInDetroit #CulturalHeritage #EquityThroughArt https://lnkd.in/gz7S5WbG

In this chapter, there’s a new spirit of labor activism in the air. What does this mean for a multiracial democracy? We’ll also explore why a “just economy,” where people receive fair wages, ample benefits, and comprehensive job protections, is key to building a good life for all.
There has been a surge in union organizing across the nation, including Los Angeles. In this chapter of Reimagining Democracy for a Good Life, we look at the role of labor in modern L.A. Angela speaks with WGA strike captain, Helen Shang; Roxana Tynan, Executive Director of LAANE, USC Professor of Sociology and Ethnic Studies, Manuel Pastor; California State Senator Maria Elena Durazo; and Kent Wong, Project Director of Labor and Community Partnerships at UCLA. Together they unpack how labor unions advance a more equitable economy and, in turn, a functioning democracy. https://lnkd.in/gmXrQRrH #LaborMovement #Labor #ReimaginingDemocracy

I’ve thought a lot about what that democracy might look like. And the description I have landed on so far is a radically inclusive, thriving multiracial democracy in service of human flourishing so we can all have a good life.
A flourishing multiracial democracy in the United States is ours to create. The promise of a nation for all remains unfulfilled because the democracy designed was only intended to serve some. It is now the work of our generation to take up the promise of “We, the People,” and re-found a country that truly serves all. #Democracy #RacialEquity #MultiracialDemocracy #EconomicJustice
