Discover how a trusted soundboard can transform your interview prep from a solo struggle to a confident, winning performance in today's #RecruitingTipTuesday from Paragon's Daphne Manilla 👇 🎙️The Power of a Soundboard in Your Interview Prep 🎙️ Preparing for a job interview can feel like a solo journey, but it doesn’t have to be! One of the best strategies is to leverage a trusted colleague or friend as a soundboard. Here’s why this can make all the difference: 1. Objective Feedback: A good friend or colleague can provide honest, constructive feedback on your answers, body language, and overall approach—helping you refine your presentation and avoid blind spots. 2. Boost Confidence: Discussing your responses and concerns with someone you trust can alleviate anxiety and boost your confidence. They can remind you of your strengths and help you articulate them effectively. 3. Fresh Perspectives: Sometimes, we get stuck in our own heads. A soundboard can offer new perspectives, helping you see the interview from a different angle and suggesting ideas you might not have considered. 4. Practice Makes Perfect: Use your trusted friend to simulate the interview environment. Practicing in a safe space can help you feel more prepared when it’s time for the real thing. 5. Clarify Your Thoughts: Verbalizing your thoughts and ideas can help you organize them better. Your soundboard can challenge you with tough questions, ensuring your responses are clear, concise, and compelling. 6. Moral Support: Last but not least, having someone in your corner cheering you on can make the process feel less daunting. Their encouragement can be the extra push you need to go into your interview with optimism and determination. Remember, interviews are as much about mindset as they are about skills. Having a trusted person to bounce ideas off of can sharpen your focus and enhance your performance. So, don’t go it alone—bring your soundboard and prepare to shine! ✨

Learn more about the crucial soft skills that every in-house attorney needs but can’t showcase on a resume from Paragon's Ann-Margaret Dudley👇 The Importance of Soft Skills: What Employers Want but Can’t See on Your Resume This quarter’s theme is “staying in the driver’s seat”—how do we maintain control during our job search? Let’s discuss what’s NOT on your resume but is crucial for every in-house attorney: soft skills. While we could dive deep into this topic, here are a few key points. Clients can easily assess your technical skills—how long you’ve practiced, your “big law” experience, or for example your tenure as a product counsel. However, they’re often as equally interested in the soft skills that aren’t visible on paper: adaptability, emotional intelligence, and technological competence. Adaptability: Staying Ahead of Change In-house attorneys must quickly adapt to shifting business priorities, new technologies, and regulations. Proactively embracing change allows you to offer solutions aligned with evolving business needs. For our clients, especially, you are being asked to drop into a client site and be an immediate team player. Adaptability is key. Emotional Intelligence: Enhancing Communication and Relationships Emotional intelligence (EQ) is essential for effective communication and collaboration. It helps you manage conflicts, build strong relationships, and navigate workplace dynamics with empathy, making you a more effective contributor to a busy legal team. Technological Competence: Leveraging Legal Tech As technology transforms the legal profession, staying updated on the latest tools is critical. Technological competence enables you to work efficiently and advise on key digital issues. The more legal departments rely on digitalization, the more tech acumen will be required for attorneys at all levels. You Are More Than What’s on Your Resume Success as an in-house attorney requires a blend of legal expertise, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and technological competence. Developing these soft skills not only strengthens your current role but also paves the way for future growth and leadership opportunities. Embrace them to stay ahead in the evolving legal landscape. Check out #ParagonLegal for our #RecruitingTipTuesday series.  Our recruiting and sourcing team will continue to share cutting-edge information gathered from the front lines of the legal industry. #RecruitingTipTuesday #ParagonLegal #JobSearch #Careers  #FlexibleLegalTalent

President & COO of Paragon Legal delivering the best flex talent for your legal team | super annoying about playing pickleball | big fan of dogs | purposefully will have typos in my posts

Is anyone else celebrating?!?!?! This is exciting for our Big Law friends! Law firms are on track to have one of their best years ever for 2024!! 🎉 Revenue up 11.4% with expenses (which who knows what's included) only up 6.9% -- record profits are the result. One interesting fact here is that work volume is up 2.9%. So, the large majority of the revenue difference can only be two things: price and mix (shift from low rate to high rate work). I think we all have our guesses on the main driver here. 😊 To me, it feels $&%* when record years are happening on the backs on clients who are conducting layoffs, stretched for budget, stressed to the max. Maybe those clients aren't in a position to do something about it at the moment, but they will eventually. The long-game matters. And, at the same time, I get it. Law firms are businesses at the end of the day and while they can tell you the price increases are to cover increasing costs (we now know with certainty it's not that), law firms are going to set their rates to maximize their client's willingness to pay. That is how every business sets their prices. And if the 80%+ of clients are going to pay the rates without throwing a tantrum or walking away, those are the rates. And they will go up again to test the willingness. And again, and again, and again -- until they reach a point where they've lost enough client demand. As much as I like to knock it, and as much as it doesn't feel good during tougher times like this, it's moments like this that we all should recognize, however weirdly run, a law firm is a business like all others. I suggest you act accordingly. #legalops #inhousecounsel #biglaw
