Today at #TCT, Dr. Wissam A Jaber (Co-PI) presented results from the #PEERLESS RCT. As the first major pulmonary embolism RCT in a decade—and the first ever to evaluate thrombectomy—PEERLESS marks a pivotal advancement in PE care, setting a new standard for the field. ICYMI: #PEERLESS RCT results show a clear win for FlowTriever over CDT on the 5-component win ratio primary endpoint. Patients experienced: - 3X fewer deteriorations and/or therapy escalations - Better, faster recovery of symptoms and hemodynamics - Less ICU utilization, hospital LOS, and readmission burden. Earlier this week, we announced strong Q3 2024 financial results including record revenue of $153 million, up 21%. We also released results from our PEERLESS RCT which showed superiority of FlowTriever compared to catheter-directed thrombolytics for intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism. Lastly, our next-generation Artix system for arterial thrombectomy recently entered limited market release. Taken together, we're looking forward to a strong finish to 2024. 🚨 Proud to have been part of this milestone—setting a new standard in PE treatment! In a first-of-its-kind, Randomized Clinical Trial, published in Circulation, #PEERLESS reveals that large-bore mechanical thrombectomy (LBMT) holds promise over catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) for patients with intermediate-risk Pulmonary Embolism (PE) ✍️ With a win ratio of 5.01, Mechanical Thrombectomy significantly lowers rates of clinical deterioration and/or escalation to bailout, dramatically lowers ICU admissions, and shortens hospital stays, providing a safer path forward for these patients. There was however, no difference in major risks like bleeding or mortality compared to CDT. There was also no difference in an important parameter RV/LV ratio. 🤔The significance: The PEERLESS data is a leap forward in guiding PE treatment decisions, underscoring the value of early, effective intervention and opening the door to a future where endovascular solutions can be more effective and safer, transforming patient care. This is also paving the way for future research, with more trials on the horizon to build on this foundation. Proud to be part of this pivotal advancement in PE care! 🙏Thank you Inari Medical for supporting this much needed study. Thanks to our world wide collaborators as well my dear colleagues at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital for your major contributions to this study.
