Show our Keiki we care!

Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 to provide kits for 2500 students, reaching this goal enables The Ready to Learn Program through Helping Hands to provide an additional 2500 students with the items they need to be successful.

For more than 30 years, SchoolTools has become one of ISLAND NEWS’s most successful community service projects, with the assistance of Helping Hands Hawaii and local business partners! This program gives low-income and houseless students free basic educational tools to aid in their scholastic development and contribute to a more prosperous future.

Learning & self-esteem are affected when children don't have school supplies they need on the first day of school or throughout the year, school supplies benefit children in many ways:

  • Learning to think outside the box
  • Facilitating creativity
  • Helps with creative problem-solving skills
  • Provides our Keiki with self-confidence

In the Spirit of Aloha, the Island News Ohana is asking our community to make monetary donations. This will help to greatly reduce the amount of money that teachers personally spend for their students and their classrooms in the upcoming year, which will alleviate stress for teachers and improve the learning environment for students.
