IDAHO FALLS — A dead body was pulled from the Snake River near the Idaho Falls Power Plant Monday afternoon, according to a press release from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said they have been unable to identify the individual or determine a cause of death.
The incident was similar to the Saturday discovery of a dead body in the Portneuf River in Pocatello. Police don't know that person's identity either and are investigating to determine a cause of death.
Bonneville County sheriff’s deputies, Idaho Falls police and the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to the area near the Broadway Bridge just after 1 p.m. Monday after the dead body was discovered in the Snake River.
The body was stuck in debris near the power plant. It was evident the individual was deceased, authorities said.
Idaho Falls Power employees assisted with the recovery of the body.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the individual's identity and cause of death.
