NEWS

NEWS TRAINEE (R50025403)

The News Trainee will learn the basics of television news writing and newscast producing in preparation for full-time regular employment at a broadcast station.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Write scripts for FOX 5 Atlanta newscasts as assigned by newsroom producers and managers
  • Write and coordinate reporter live shots and live talk-back interviews
  • Build graphic elements for news broadcasts under deadline
  • Assist in control room during newscasts
  • Assist with digital responsibilities including creating web stories and social posts on multiple platforms
  • Assist assignment editors by monitoring incoming e-mail, monitoring scanners, answering telephones and performing other duties as directed by newsroom managers and staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

SPECIAL PROJECTS EDITOR (R50025953)

The Special Projects Editor uses raw material to prepare video sequences for publication during newscasts and on digital platforms. Responsible for complex and high-profile editing assignments that may extend beyond a daily news production cycle, including program length editing.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Edit video sequences for air under deadline using editing software
  • Work with colleagues to plan and conceptualize the narrative flow of long-term news projects from pre-production to completion
  • Perform high-end post-production editing work, including color grading, special effects and audio mixing
  • Edit raw material and utilize music, sound effects and graphics to enhance storytelling in long-form news projects
  • Maintain high level of expertise in editing software and stay up to date with new releases
  • Use software to restore and archive video in long-term storage
  • Update scripts to indicate running times of video sequences and times for graphics to be added over video sequences during live newscasts and special news coverage
  • Inform producers and writers about any discrepancies between written scripts and edited stories
  • Prepare file video for use in the field as needed
  • Assist Editing Coordinator by taking in feeds, restoring archive video, and making sure all elements in a rundown are online before deadline

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated skills in video editing under daily deadline pressure
  • Expertise with post-production editing software for creating motion graphics and special effects
  • Familiarity with social media and clipping elements for use on those platforms

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and supervises production of streaming content, including daily news and other programming
  • Collaborates with other members of the digital team and news editorial managers to optimize the presentation of daily news coverage and breaking news coverage on the stream
  • Works with streaming producer/hosts to enhance the presentation of streaming content
  • Works with the Digital Content Director and other station managers to develop and implement strategies for expanding the scope and reach of the station’s streaming content and the FOX Local CTV app
  • Develops expertise in the technology used to produce and deliver streaming content in order to train staff in streaming systems and troubleshoot issues with the stream when required
  • Serves as producer/host of the station’s stream when required

FOX 5 Atlanta is looking for a Streaming Producer/Host to present news and informational content on our 24/7 live streaming platform. You'll be part of a team that is serving our fast-growing digital audience.

Working with our Executive Producer for Streaming, you'll be able to tap into all of the resources and content produced by our major-market TV newsroom. If you live and breathe news, this is your ideal job. You'll plan the content, present it on camera, and push the buttons that make it all come together. And when breaking news happens, you'll have the latest technology at your fingertips, so you can take viewers there immediately.

We need someone with great news judgment and a passion for telling stories, who is comfortable in the online world and isn't afraid to try new things. Someone who's great at multitasking in a deadline-driven environment. If that's you, we need you on our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in concert with the Executive Producer, Streaming and the Digital Content Director to develop concepts for scheduled programs designed to maximize audience for the station’s live stream and FOX Local CTV app
  • Produces and crafts blocks of news, weather and information content to be delivered via the station’s live stream
  • Utilizes technology platforms to schedule and execute streaming of pre-produced program content
  • Monitors incoming video feeds and works in conjunction with Assignment Editors to recognize and respond to breaking news of interest to the streaming audience
  • Appears on camera to host and introduce scheduled streaming programs; hosts and narrates live coverage of breaking news and scheduled news events presented in full on the station’s live stream
  • Evaluates audience measurement data and participates in discussions about content strategy and planning for the station’s live stream
  • Ensures that streaming content meets the editorial standards of the FOX 5 newsroom

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maximizing shares on well-established television and digital accounts, focusing on increasing revenue across all media facets. As a direct link to our clients, this role involves servicing established agency accounts, harnessing direct client contact, and maintaining strong agency relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • · Service existing agency accounts as directed by sales management, ensuring the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • · Establish direct client contact while maintaining positive relationships with agencies.
  • · Develop comprehensive and persuasive multi-screen platform sales and research presentations.
  • · Achieve revenue goals across existing accounts, new business, zero-share business, and digital sales.
  • · Utilize proficient negotiation skills based on NSI LPM ratings and qualitative research.
