Students are able to

  • gain an understanding of the fundamentals of the industrial design process and apply this knowledge in practice by implementing it using concrete examples.
  • apply the basic knowledge in the industrial design process by means of a practical example (project).
  • deal with "bottom up" development processes in the context of functional design applications, especially in the field of consumer goods, and to carry out independent project work that focuses on them.
  • understand the fundamentals of industrial design.
  • perform bottom-up design processes.
  • transform the fundamentals of the process into prototypes.

The project represents the interdisciplinary focus of the project and is dealt with in combination with Presentation Technology 1.
Project definition (individual projects):

  • Bottom-up development processes
  • Understanding of design processes, conceptualization
  • Use of presentation techniques for the realization / implementation of concept ideas
  • Basics, CAD-based design
  • Method of the "Design Thinking" process
  • Design Research and data interpretation
  • Method for transferring concept ideas into product development
